Katsuki was quick to learn that, though he may not have come to this school looking for friends, he was going to be adopted as a friend regardless.
For the entirety of the last hour of class, where Aizawa Sensei gave them time to talk quietly with each other to build a rapport with each other. Their Sensei made the point that there was going to be a high chance that at least some of them would be working closely together in the future as heroes "if they survived his class". They were also going to be spending at least this school year with each other so it was better to get a start on being comfortable with everyone in the class sooner rather than later.
He was quietly talking with Yaya when not just Kirishima, but a whole other brave dumb ass came over to plop themselves down at the desks next to the two. Katsuki was sitting in his own seat, turned around to straddle the back of his chair, while Tenya sat right behind him with his planners, a binder and a few handwritten worksheets laid out on the desk in front of the two. They were working out a schedule for the work their teachers were trying to prepare them for.
Working in homework, studying, training, time for the three of them to spend together and family time. It was a lot to fit in to a schedule but they were getting there. Katsuki knew that he'd have to let Izzy take a look at it just to confirm that his time slots lined up with theirs but he was confident that they'd get it down to a relatively nice time frame for everything. Including giving Izzy extra time in his schedule for his boyfriend.
The dread that tugged at his stomach was completely and thoroughly ignored. He has no right to be jealous or upset that Izzy is in a relationship. He knew it would happen sooner or later, he just didn't know it would be so soon. There was also the bit where he thought it would be him that would be standing next to the greennette in such a way but that was to be thought over at a later time.
Way later.
Maybe in a few years time.
Maybe in the next century.
It was nice to think that he'd be given an unlimited time to put the thoughts and emotions to the little corner in the back of his head till he successfully buried them but he knew that it would only worry his best friend. He'd endure the embarrassment of confessing his feelings to Izuku. Endure and abate the worry that would no doubt grow in his best friend over losing their friendship because there was no way in hell Izuku felt the same. They'd already been over that.
He'd tell Izuku his feelings but assure him that he didn't need to reciprocate said feelings. Tell the freckle spattered genius that Katsuki would be more than happy to just continue on as the best of friends. He didn't need a romantic relationship with the boy. He just needed Izuku. He could deal with the rest and try to fill the need with of a romantic relationship with someone else.
It may not sound fair to the person he ends up with but those are the cards Katsuki's being dealt and he'd play them to the best of his abilities.
As long as Izuku was in his life in some kind of capacity he knew he could do anything he'd ever set his mind too.
'Dependent much? Fuckin' loser.' Katsuki rolls his eyes at himself and his thoughts. 'You can do shit without Izuku. He's not the entire world.' he mulled over his internal words for a moment before coming to accept that, 'that's true but it wouldn't be the same without him.'
An odd feeling settled inside him that he couldn't really identify. He wasn't given the time to think it over either because the blonde that had tagged along with Kirishima decided to start asking questions.
"Does anyone know where that kid ended up? You know the one that broke U.A.'s entrance exam records? I didn't see him on the seating chart for 1-A or 1-B." Electric yellow eyes wide in disbelief only took on an even wider look when the red head to his right confirmed what he'd just said.
