Seeing Kat so stressed out in the middle of the hallway, where anyone could see him, had Izuku beyond worried about his best friend.

He'd seen the blonde getting irritated at lunch but in the past all he'd needed was a moment alone to collect his thoughts. He's never seen or heard of Katsuki getting so worked up and stressed out that he'd been on the brink of a panic attack. Izuku wanted so badly to find out what was causing his closest friend and ally so much distress but when he saw that look in those ruby red eyes he knew it was too much all at once.

Telling Kat to take his time in telling him what was going on was easy but the worry just grew in his heart. Something was wrong. There was something that Katsuki felt he couldn't tell him. Izuku could feel it.

His friend never was the best of liars or fakers. 'Never win an award for acting,' the thought drifted through his mind fondly. He refused to force anything out of Katsuki, no matter how much he wanted to know. Trying to force his best friend to do something he didn't want to do was worse than trying to give a cat a bath. It just ended in feeling getting hurt, mean looks shot at one another, and being shoved away for weeks on end.

Katsuki would come to him when he felt ready.

Izuku could trust in that if nothing else.

"Ready to get going?" Hitoshi's hip was leaning against his desk, head cocked to the side in slight concern that was overshadowed by amusement. Izuku looks around to confirm what he had sensed and saw that the rest of the class indeed had left, leaving himself alone with Present Mic Sensei and Hitoshi.

Izuku nodded his head and looked over to Mic Sensei before speaking up. "Need any help, Sir?" The question was answered with eyes snapping up to his and a somewhat confused sound escaping his Sensei's mouth.

There were several emotions that flashed in the man's eyes before they settled on amusement. "No. I've got it Midoriya. Thank you though, I do appreciate it." Mic sends the two of them a smile and goes back to packing his things into his bag.

Izuku takes the man at his word and decides to just slip his notebook and pencil into his own bag before standing.

"Let's go Bedhead." He nudges past he purple haired boy and makes his way to the classroom door before he turns back to see Hitoshi sporting a faux offended look on his face.

"My hair isn't nearly as bad as whatever the hell is on top of your head, thank you very much." With a dramatic hand to his chest and head turned upwards he struts past Izuku and steps into the hallway.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night." Izuku snorts before falling step with his new friend.

"I don't sleep, for your information. Hate to break it to you, Sweetheart. These bags may be Gucci but they're also a hundred percent organic." Izuku rolls his eyes and lets a smile tug at the corners of his lips. He hasn't been in the presence of this much sass since Kat.

His gut twists in guilt as he remembers his favorite blonde.

Remembers the way his face fell and fire opal eyes dulled at his needed announcement.

Lying to his best friend and long time crush slash love was something he never wanted, intended or tried to do. Putting both his future career in trouble and drowning Eraser Head in lawsuits wasn't an option though.

The words over lunch had him feeling like acid had washed over his tongue and throat. It was a feeling he never wanted to relive.

Watching Katsuki break down in the hallways had sent his nerves and mind in to a near frenzy of 'need to protect' and 'find what's wrong' and 'fix' had nearly overwhelmed him. He needed to take a few steadying breaths before taking his blonde into his arms and pulling him to a more covered part of the hall.
