Fall Into Place

Dahee sat on her bed, her mind swirling with a mix of embarrassment and excitement from the events of the day. Yeji and Minseo had come over to work on math homework, but the conversation had veered into more personal territory—specifically, her recent hand-holding incident with Jaemin. She couldn't shake off the blush that crept onto her cheeks whenever she thought about it.

"It was nothing! He just held my hand, and... that's it," Dahee defended herself, playfully grabbing a pillow to toss at Minseo, who was eagerly pressing for details.

"Are you two dating now? Did I miss something?" Minseo asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.

"How could you miss anything? You're always with that guy," Yeji interjected, her tone tinged with jealousy that surprised both Minseo and herself.

"What?" Minseo looked baffled. "Why are you being so harsh with me lately, Ji? What did I do?"

Yeji's initial confidence wavered as she saw the hurt in Minseo's eyes. She hadn't meant to hurt her friend; she just wanted Minseo to see what was right in front of her. Without a word, Minseo gathered her things and left in a rush, leaving Dahee to look at Yeji with raised eyebrows.

"What are you waiting for? Go after her, explain!" Dahee urged, feeling drained from the tension between her friends.

Yeji hesitated for a moment before gathering her things and rushing out after Minseo.

Dahee sighed heavily, wishing they could resolve their misunderstandings without so much drama. She knew about Yeji's long-standing crush on Minseo and vice versa, but their miscommunication seemed to only complicate things further.

Deciding it was best to let them sort it out, Dahee cleaned up her room and took a quick shower before changing into comfortable pajamas. As she settled back onto her bed, her thoughts drifted to Jaemin, and she found herself reaching for her phone.

"Should I call him?" Dahee pondered aloud, debating whether to reach out first.

Before she could decide, an incoming FaceTime call from Jaemin startled her. She hesitated for a moment before answering, her heart racing.

"Hello?" Dahee greeted, her voice unintentionally squeaky with nerves.

Jaemin's laughter echoed through the phone. "Is this a squirrel or a fangirl? I thought I called Oh Dahee."

"Hi," Dahee whispered, feeling her cheeks flush.

"I can barely hear you," Jaemin teased gently.

"Hi," Dahee repeated, a little louder this time.

"There she is," Jaemin chuckled warmly. "Is this FaceTime? Can I see your face?"

"I look... not good," Dahee admitted shyly, inching closer to the phone.

"Who told you that? You're pretty," Jaemin replied sincerely, causing Dahee's blush to deepen. "Very beautiful, actually. If you ask me," he added, his tone affectionate.

Dahee couldn't help but smile bashfully. Adjusting her phone, she turned off the lights and nestled under her blankets, feeling a wave of warmth as they continued talking.

"You think I'm beautiful?" Dahee murmured, her heart fluttering.

"Is that even a question? Of course!" Jaemin's voice was filled with fondness. "You sound so soft-spoken and shy right now. What's going on?" Jaemin teased gently.
