Moonlit Revelations

"S-show yourself."

Dahee whispered-yelled into the darkness of her room. She approached the window cautiously, heart pounding as she suspected it might just be her imagination playing tricks.

With a back scratcher in hand (an odd choice, but effective in a pinch), she cautiously peered outside.

To her surprise, there he was—Jaemin, hanging precariously from the window sill with his legs still anchored to a nearby tree.

"Jaemin?!" Dahee couldn't believe her eyes.

"What the fu—"

"Help me up!" Jaemin interrupted urgently, cutting himself off.

Dahee dropped the back scratcher and seized his wrist, pulling him inside with effort. They both panted in relief once Jaemin was safely in her room, staring at each other in disbelief.

"You... what are you doing here?" Dahee managed, eyeing Jaemin with a mixture of confusion and curiosity.

"You texted me," Jaemin stated plainly.

Dahee furrowed her brow, trying to recall when she had messaged him. Then, it clicked—she had reached out earlier after her argument with her mother. "Oh," she muttered, realization dawning.

"What did I text again?"

"Jaemin I need you?"

"Oh."

"I got worried something might've happened. I only saw your message after I got home," Jaemin explained, his concern evident.

Dahee remembered Jaemin and Gayoung spending time together earlier. "How was it?" she asked, sitting down on the bed. "Your little hang out with my sister?"

"It was great. I learned a lot from her. She's really cool," Jaemin replied warmly.

"Is she your type?" Dahee asked impulsively, surprising herself with the question.

"What? No. She's like a little sister to me. Maybe we share, like my mom?" Jaemin joked, attempting to lighten the mood.

Dahee felt a pang of something she couldn't quite place. "Mhm, no. If you ever try to make a move on her, you'll have to go through me first," she asserted, a hint of protectiveness in her voice.

The words stung a bit as they left her lips, but before she could dwell on it, Jaemin said something unexpected. "So, does that mean I have to date you first?" he teased lightly.

Dahee's heart skipped a beat, caught off guard by his comment. She struggled to find words, her mind racing.

"Dahee? Are you okay?" Jaemin's concern brought her back to the present.

"What did you say?" she asked, needing to be sure she heard him correctly.

"I asked if you were okay," Jaemin repeated gently.

"I didn't say anything. After you mentioned me dating Gayoungie, you seemed to zone out. Are you sure you're alright?" Jaemin asked, moving closer and placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"I'm fine," Dahee replied quickly, averting her gaze.

"You look pale," Jaemin observed.
