First Day Fiasco
A week has passed, it was the first day of school, and Dahee was running late. She had woken up very early to cook breakfast for herself and Gayoung.
But things went awry when she accidentally burnt the food, forcing her to start over and taking much longer than expected. Gayoung, who had been ready and waiting for quite some time, had already left for school.
Now, she was clumsily putting on her shoes, cursing under her breath, before dashing out the door. She remembered to lock it, at least.
At the bus stop, Dahee anxiously checked her watch. After waiting for a good ten minutes, the bus finally arrived, and she hurriedly boarded. She used the ride to brush her hair, not wanting to look like a mess upon arriving at school.
Once she walked out of the bus, her school was just a few seconds away from were the bus stopped, she ran.
Upon reaching the school gates, Dahee swiped her ID and hurried inside, checking her phone to find a text from Minseo indicating their meeting in the auditorium for the opening assembly.
She entered the noisy auditorium and stretched her head to look for her friends, once successfully doing so, she approached quietly walk up to them.
"Is it done?" She asked breathlessly.
"Yeah, just finished. We've got our textbooks and other stuffs, do you want us to come with you to get yours?" Yeji offered, helping Dahee stand .
"It's okay, can manage." Dahee replied, settnig off alone towards the administritive office. Inside, she approached a staff member engrossed in their computer. "Good morning. I'm here to get my textbooks," Dahee announced.
"Name and year?" the woman inquired, scanning the screen.
"Oh Dahee, 12th Grade."
"May I help you, dear?" The woman asked you while her eyes glued to the computer screen.
After a brief wait, Dahee received her books, locker keys, and other essentials for the year, feeling a pang of nostalgia as she left the office—realizing it was her final year at this school. Outside, Minseo and Yeji waited, eager to compare schedules.
"So, let's see if we have any classes together this year," Minseo exclaimed excitedly.
Reviewing their schedules, Dahee and Yeji discovered they shared several classes, while Minseo found herself in a different section. Disappointed, Minseo slumped down, hiding her face in her hands.
"At least we can still go home together," Dahee comforted her, giving Minseo a reassuring pat.
"Still! I want to be with you guys." Minseo pouted, feeling dejected for being separated.
"We'll treat you to coffee later?" Yeji suggested tentativtely.
Minseo brightened at the idea. "You will?" she asked, hopeful.
Yeji hesitated briefly before nodding. "Yeah, why not?"
"Yay!" Minseo exclaimed, hugging Yeji tightly and planting a playful kiss on her cheek, causing Yeji to freeze in surprise.
"Okay, you two, get a room." Dahee gagged, recoiling when Yeji lightly tapped the back of her head.
"Just ignore her," Yeji rolled her eyes then her eyes found something, or someone, she leaned towards Dahee with a smirk. "Oh look, Jaemin is approaching."
