"Violet you need to get out of bed. Skipping school isn't an option." Mary moved some hair out of my face that had been stuck due to tears. "Oh baby what's happened? Do you wanna write it down?"
I shook my head, forcing a smile so I'd seem fine to her. Nobody with the exception of mother nature seemed to have any empathy for me. The closer I stepped to the kitchen, the intensity of the rain heightened.
"Hank has to work late tonight. I'll give you the key to unlock the house." Mary causally informed me as she handed me my backpack. With dread, I nodded and got into the car. "Do you wanna listen to some music?"
I did nothing but shake my head again. For the rest of the car ride, I ignored her presence and focused on the rain again. I knew I'd have to see Courtney the very minute that I entered the building.
Malcolm became my safety net. I always knew that I could trust him. I considered him to be like a brother.
"What are you drawing?" The brown haired boy asked as he sat next to me. " If you don't mind me asking."
I'll never talk.
"It's a gutair." He smiled widely at the paper I'd passed to him.
----
"Vi! Have you seen Courtney?!" Angus asked as he ran up to me. I'd successfully avoided him and satan all morning. "I just had something I wanted to give her."Unsuccessfully attempting to hold my tears back, I chewed my
lip as I shook my head no."Vi.." Angus looked at me with sympathy, slightly tilting his head with confusion. I turned away from him once I began to fully break down crying. FUCK.
The blonde grabbed my hand and walked me outside, to a more private place. I deeply inhaled as I fought to catch my breath.
"Did I do something wrong?" Angus asked as he slouched down to the ground. "If it's about me dating Courtney, you made it pretty clear you wern't interested in me!"
"ANGUS I HAVE BEEN RAPED! ABUSED! TORTURED! NEGLECTED! EVERYONE BEATS ME DOWN!"
To say that I had caused shock was an understatement. For the first time, I had used my voice.
