Anxiety, distress and agitation was laced between the two parents as they made eye contact. Lily and James Potter. Two of the most famous young wizards. Hiding in fear. Hiding seeking shelter to protect their two most cherished things in life.
Like many parents, they would do anything and everything to protect their kids. Protecting them at this moment was more than just for their safety, but for the safety of their world. Nonetheless, they somehow failed. They were betrayed.
That night was one to remember. Filled with both sorrow and celebration. However, for one, it was a recurring nightmare. For one, it was what haunted their sleep even though she had no idea what it meant. She was only a ten-year-old, living in a not-so-great household with her brother, knowing nothing. Nothing about her parents. Nothing about her destiny. She was just a young girl living in a world that seemed so cruel at the moment.

Noise filled her ears. The type of noise that breaks people. The type of noise that hurts. Silence and uneven breaths of fear. The noise of soft footsteps even though the person taking those steps was far from soft. Occasional creaks of the stairs indicated the person was near. The noise of silent fear as a mother and two children hid. Hoping, waiting, anticipating what was to come.
Just like always, the realization hit her. It was happening again. What haunted her mind, memories. It was the night everyone was freed but the day she was trapped. The day she lost what she was going to become.
The soft steps then paused. No noise was emitted for what felt like hours until a thundering sound emitted from the now fallen door. Now, what stood there was a dark, hooded towering ghost-like figure. The dark lord. The one whose mission was to kill and leave. No remorse, just the end goal in mind.
The ghostly figure pointed a stick-like object at the mother. It whispered words you couldn't quite hear. However, the response of the mother resulted in a green light being blasted at her. Her body fell to the floor leaving the two children alone with the dark hooded figure standing at the doorway. One of the children then began crying over the loss of their mother and the comfort they would never experience again. The figure then turned to the crib where both children laid. One somehow sleeping and the other crying missing their mother. The ghost figure pointed the stick at the sleeping child but the green light didn't emit. Instead, complete darkness.

A noise outside of her head then filled her ears. Slowly Emberly opened her eyes. The somewhat dark, cramped room filled her eyesight. Light shined through the crack in the small door. Recollection of her dream engulfed her mind. The cries, the loud noise, the green light. As always her mind left her on a cliff. The rest of the memory jumped off the cliff while she sat there watching it fall. She always thought she could get closer and closer but she never did.
Nevertheless, she tried to move past the memory. She just decided that was how she got the scar she and her brother shared. Speaking of he happened to not be beside her like he normally was. Instead, she heard his voice from the kitchen. Hesitantly she sat up from her spot on the mattress. Making her reddish-blonde hair look somewhat decent she ran her hands through it.
She rose from the mattress and opened the cupboard door into the hallway. Opening the kitchen door she saw Harry was cooking something on the stove while Dudley was complaining about something. Living with him for her entire life she knew something didn't go his way.
Immediately when the door closed making the click noise, Aunt Petunia began yelling at Emberly, "Go help your brother with breakfast. I want everything to be perfect!"
Inside her head, she rolled her eyes and headed towards the cupboard for bread. She placed the bread in the toaster and went to hug Harry. Silently saying good morning. In response, he half hugged her focusing on the bacon in the pan. She released him and returned to the bread. Mindlessly staring at it waiting for it to finally pop up from the toaster.
