Jungkook's POV

I exhaled and turned my head to face the wall, trying to find a more comfortable position in this stiff hospital chair. It was past 4AM now and I still fought my tiredness with all my might. There's just no time for rest in a situation like this. If something was to happen and I was asleep, how was I supposed to help? Nightfall could attack or my mate's heart could stop beating, Suho might change his mind and turn on us after all. Maybe Yeri was just a spy and waited for our weakest moment to tell her father?

My mind was endlessly and pessimistically rambling about everything that could go wrong. Leaning forward and resting my head on my arms, I tried to ease some of my tension by getting closer to my mate. Maybe if I just close my eyes for a few minutes...

I jolted upwards from gentle pressure on my head and vigorously looked around. "Surprise, Kookie", Y/N rasped as her hand dropped back onto the bed from my sudden movement. "I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me"

The corners of her mouth slightly curved upwards to a tired smile as she took long, deep breaths through her parted lips. It didn't matter that she still looked a bit lifeless and weak, to me she was the most beautiful girl to ever bless my sight.

"I thought I had lost you", I whispered and smiled while a tear escaped my eye. I raised my hand to her cheek and softly caressed it before I pressed a kiss on her forehead. There weren't enough words to describe how happy and relieved I was right now.

"Try harder next time. It takes a lot more to get rid of me than a little scratch", she sighed and tilted her head so she could properly look at me. "A little scratch... You almost died, Y/N", I scoffed but kept carefully stroking her hair.

She was still a little pale and only looked at me with half opened eyes but just being able to hear her beautiful voice made me want to jump around and scream from all rooftops. My chest felt like bursting from appreciation and gratitude for her.

"I'm fine as you can tell", my mate remarked but I just chuckled sarcastically. "I'm sorry but I define "fine" a lot differently than having to take you to the hospital wing for you go through surgery and a coma. You should've let me take his attack"

"That's something an idiot would say", Y/N giggled and made my heart melt of adoration, as I was scared that I would never be able to hear it again. "Pushing me out of the way and getting hurt yourself is something only an idiot would do", I retorted.

"That's why you shouldn't get used to it", she sighed and shook her head but ultimately smiled at me. "I guess we're both idiots". "Yeah... Some even say we're soulmates", I smiled and pulled her hand up to kiss it.

"Careful there, people might hear you", Y/N pointed out jokingly and scrunched her nose affectionately. "Let them. I want the whole world to know that you're mine", I replied and finally allowed myself to lean down and feel her soft lips on mine.

Every cell of my body was screaming for her touch, wanting to feel her smooth skin against my own, the warmth of her embrace and the sensation of her breath tickling me for hours on end. Anything to remind myself that she was alive and going to be okay.

Having her respond to the kiss just as longingly as I so desperately needed her to made me feel like someone set my heart on fire, so it could then explode into a million fireworks in my chest. It was inexplicably exciting yet still comforting.

With each time our lips connected again, I felt myself regaining my energy and will to live, things that have been drained from my mind and body ever since Y/N got bitten. I wouldn't let her go through another day without cherishing her to the fullest.

As much as I just wanted to continue our kiss forever, my senses made me aware that she was running out of breath and I was getting too carried away from our closure, resulting in me almost climbing onto the bed with her.
