"Lauren!" Camila burst through her neighbor's door, slamming it and locking it behind her as quickly as humanly possible. The brunette then sped walked over to the window and shut all the windows a drapes.

Lauren emerged from her kitchen. "Camz? What's wrong? Is someone following you? Are you okay?" She asks frantically, walking over to the younger girl to make sure she's okay, grabbing her cheeks and examining her up close.

"No one's following me." Camila pushed her hands off and walked into the kitchen. "Where's your tinfoil?" She asks, opening all of the drawers and moving things around inside of them to find the long box she was looking for.

Lauren bent down to the farthest drawer to the right and retrieved her foil, handing it out to her neighbor with a confused expression. "Is everything okay?"

"No." Camila replies and pushes everything that was on top of Lauren's counter down to the floor, opening boxes and sending their contents across the previously clean tile. "I need your tape." She says while pulling out a long sheet of tinfoil and ripping it off. Lauren looks down at the mess and sighs.

The green eyed girl obeys her odd request and grabs the tape from another drawer in the kitchen. Lauren was used to her neighbor's silly episodes and learned not to question them. The thing that made it strange was the time of night Camila came over. Usually her adventures happened during the day.

"What are you doing?" Lauren asks as she watches Camila folding the foil carefully. All the girl does is shush her, so she goes back to cooking her dinner, now doubling her recipe because she's sure Camila will be staying for dinner.

As Lauren cooks, she looks back at Camila every few seconds to make sure she's doing okay. The girl seemed to be slightly calmer than she was when she first walked in, so she went back to her original task. The sound of Camila ripping off foil pieces and the sizzling of the burner from Lauren's oven are the only two sounds that can be heard.

Lauren feels Camila place a strip of tinfoil around her head and she looks up at the shiny material. "Can I help you?" She questions, stirring her dinner.

"Just measuring your head." Camila replies and walks back to her spot on the counter. Lauren shakes her head and turns off the burner, walking over to her dish cupboard and pulling out two bowls. Lauren distributes equal amounts of food in each bowl and puts the dirty pan in the sink.

"What do you want to drink?" Lauren asks, walking over to her living room to set their bowls down on the table in front of the TV. Camila doesn't respond. "Camz?" The brown eyed girl looks up. "What do you want to drink?" She repeats.

"Oh um... water." Camila replies, shaking her head slightly. She moves her fingers quickly, trying her hardest to finish was she was doing. "Almost done." She whispers, folding the foil into itself.
Lauren grabs two tall glasses and presses them against her fridge for some cold water, bringing them over to the table. "Dinner is ready." She tells the younger girl who was holding her project up to her eyes. Lauren turns on her TV and leans back into her couch with her dinner in hand.

Camila walks into the living room and sits down next to Lauren, placing the tinfoil hat she made for her on her head and crosses her legs. Lauren looks upwards and then over at her neighbor who was wearing her own tinfoil hat. "Uh... What are these for?" She asks, flicking the long piece of thick foil at the top.

"Don't do that!" Camila scolds. "It's protecting us from the aliens." Lauren raises her eyebrow.

"Oh don't give me that look. You know I wouldn't freak out over something if it wasn't important." Lauren blinks at her. "Okay so maybe I over react sometimes, but this time it's serious. The aliens are attacking." Camila tells her.

Lauren holds in a chuckle. "What makes you say that?" She asks, closing her mouth around her awaiting spoon.

"Didn't you see the UFO a little while ago? It was flying by my window at six. I knew right away it was the aliens." Camila told her, drinking down some broth in her bowl. "It was a bright light with a blue tail trailing behind it." She explained. "The aliens are coming, Lauren."

The older girl nodded. "Right... The aliens." Lauren nods and feeds herself another spoonful.

"You don't believe me." Camila frowns at her. "I come over to protect my best friend from the aliens that have come to attack earth and she repays me with her non-believer mumbo jumbo?"

Lauren widens her eyes. "All I said what 'right'!" She says, laughing at her neighbor's reaction. "Keep your cool, Camz."

Camila is about to open her mouth to argue when she sees the exact UFO she was talking about on the TV in front of her. "See there it is!" She points at the screen. "Turn it up!" Lauren reaches for the remote and takes it off of mute. "Why do you watch TV without any sound, you dork?" Camila comments, nudging the girl playfully.

"Shut up." Lauren chuckles. The girls go silent when they hear the news reporter speaking.

"The UFO was spotted flying over LA around six this evening. We received many calls reporting this spotting along with pictures and videos of the bright light in the sky. As you can see in this video here, the UFO was shown as a bright light when it later... exploded and created a blue trail behind it." Lauren looked over at Camila and found her staring at the screen. "We contacted various air force bases to see-"

Camila turned the TV off. "See? I told you. What are we going to do Lauren? Do you have a lot of canned food? The grocery stores are probably flooded right now, people are preparing for the end of the world. We need to do something!" She spoke frantically.

"Like what, Camz?" Lauren asks, setting down her empty bowl. Camila thinks for a moment before standing up and walking down Lauren's hallway. "Now what?" The older girl mumbles to herself and follows the girl. Camila opened Lauren's cupboard and started pulling out all the blankets and pillows she could find. "Camila, what are you doing?" Lauren asked, knowing she would have to clean all of this up tomorrow.

"Building us a protective fort, duh!" Camila says, tossing the things she had in her arms on the floor and walking over to the kitchen to grab the chairs around the table. Lauren rubs her eyes and follows her. "Grab some chairs." She demands and sets the chairs in the living room. Camila grunts as she pushes the couch across the floor, blocking the door so no one can get in.

Lauren comes into the living and sighs, setting down the chair and going back into the kitchen to grab some more. "So how will a fortress of pillows and blankets protect us?" She calls out. "And do we have to build it on the floor? Can't we build it over my bed?"

"Oh stop complaining." Camila rolls her eyes and throws a blanket over a chair. "Did you get those other chairs yet?" She asks, turning around to find Lauren standing with the last chair.

"Good. Set it over there." Camila points. Camila placed her hands on her hips and looked at the foundation she built. "Okay!" She claps her hands. "Go sit down on the couch and stay out of my way." She tells the older girl and begins throwing more and more blankets on top of the chairs.

"You don't need any help?" Lauren asks, plopping on her couch.

Camila chuckles. "No offence, Lo, but you suck at making forts. Don't you remember last time you tried building a fort. It crashed down on us the second we got in it." She reminds the girl.

"Yeah I remember." Lauren crosses her arms defensively.

When the younger girl looks over her shoulder and sees her neighbor's pouty face, she smiles. "Lauren, don't be such a baby. So you suck at forts, big deal. That's why you have me! To assist you with all of your fort building needs." Camila tells her.

Lauren hums and waits for her friend to finish building their alien protection fort. As she waits, she unconsciously closes her eyes and dozes off. A whole twenty minutes pass. Camila looks at her work proudly and turns around to see her neighbor's reaction.

"Lauren!" She calls, waking her up. The girl snaps her head up, causing her hat to fall off. "Get your hat on! The aliens will read your thoughts and hear that we're in here!" Camila screeches. The older girl frantically reached for her hat and sets it back on her head. "Good." The brown eyed girl sighed. "I finished the fort." She tells her.

"Looks good." Lauren yawns. "Can we go in now?" She asks, standing up and stretching her body. "I wouldn't be opposed to going to sleep actually." The girl chuckles.
Camila thinks for a moment. "I guess it's safe to go in now. I don't know of rules against it..." She spoke.

Once the girls are situated in their fort nicely, Lauren rests her head on her pillow and extends an arm for Camila to come lay next to her. The fort wasn't as big as Camila imagined it to be - it was actually quite cramped - so they had to be close.

Of course, now that Lauren was ready for bed, she couldn't fall asleep. She sighed and looked down at the girl next to her. "Now what do we do?" Lauren asks. "Are there any chants or rituals we can perform to tell the aliens to go away?"

"I thought you were going to sleep. I was planning on laying here and waiting for my doom."
Camila tells her, shifting in her spot.

"What do you think the aliens are here to do exactly?" Lauren asks, playing with the girls' hair.
Camila hummed. "Well I assumed they were coming down to take all the woman back to their planet. They want us to breed alien/human hybrids. Haven't you ever seen The X Files? The U.S. government and the aliens are working together to do all these crazy things..."

"And why do they want alien/human hybrids exactly?"

"Well for wars of course. The alien/human hybrids that are successful are able to withstand any and all weapons. They can't die... I think. I don't know for sure, I haven't finished the series yet." Camila explains. "But whoever created the show was right and now the aliens are coming to steal all the world's women."

Lauren chuckles quietly. "How will they know where women live?" She asks, secretly enjoying her neighbor's explanations and silly behavior.

"They'll probably just go door to door. They can't get in here though, not with the couch in the way. And if we don't answer they'll just assume no one's home and go to the next house. They need to get in and out as quickly as possible, you know." Camila tells her.

The older girl hums. "But what if they're desperate for two young Latina women who fit our description exactly?" Lauren counters.

"I guess we would have to fight." Camila shrugs. "Or I'd push you and run." She adds with a giggle.

Lauren gasps. "You would push me to get away from the aliens? You would sacrifice me to save yourself? I thought we were best friends!" She says teasingly.

"I'm just kidding; I could never do that to you. That's exactly why I came over. I'm protecting you with this hat and fort, obviously. If I didn't come over you would have be completely oblivious to the world crumbling down around you." Camila pokes her chest and yawns. "You would have been exposed to the aliens."

"My savior." Lauren bats her eyelashes. Camila gives her a sleepy smile. "Hiding from the aliens got you all tired out?" She asks.

Camila nods and brings the blanket that was at their feet up to their shoulders and curls her body into Lauren's more. "Goodnight, Lauren. Wake me up if the aliens start knocking on your door." She closes her eyes. "Oh, and thanks for spending these last few hours on Earth with me. I wouldn't have wanted to die or get abducted with anyone else." She says finally.

"Goodnight, Camz." Lauren replies quietly. "I wouldn't want to die or get abducted with anyone else either."

Lauren thinks that twenty minute power nap she had earlier really helped her sleepiness because now, two hours after Camila had fallen asleep, she was still wide awake. She tried falling asleep, she really did, but she just couldn't. Camila was snuggling up to her and she was nice and cozy, but she just couldn't fall asleep at all.

Now that she had spent all that time with the girl, she realized how boring things usually were around her house. Lauren sighed and moved her hand out from under the blanket to poke her in the face. If she were to wake up, she wouldn't be so bored, right?

Lauren poked Camila's cheek softly a couple times, pinches the tip of her nose and pushed it upwards so she would look like a pig, raised her eyebrow and slowly dragged her finger down her face. She stopped at her lips. Lauren stared at her lips a little too long and then forced herself to look away so she could think about what else she could to do make the girl wake up.

She told her to wake her up if the aliens were coming, right? And she's been meaning to get her back for the prank she pulled on her a month or two ago... "Hmmm." Lauren hummed and bit her lip in thought.

"Camila!" She called with a frantic tone in her voice. She shook the girl. "Camila wake up!" Lauren called out again in a slight whisper. "Camila, we need to go! The aliens are coming, Camila!" Lauren told her, still shaking her shoulders.

"What?" Camila asked without opened her eyes.

"They're outside, Camz! You were right all along, the aliens came for us." Lauren told her, fighting her hardest to keep from laughing out. Camila's eyes shot open. "We need to go hide somewhere, Camila!" Lauren told her, getting up from her position.

"Holy shit, Lauren." Camila spoke, scrambling to get up and grab her hat. Lauren took her hand and pulled her out. The two quietly ran down the hallway.

"In the closet, in the closet!" Lauren whisper-yelled and opened the tall door. Camila rushed inside and pulled Lauren with her, shut the door behind them and covered her mouth to quiet her panting.

"Do you think we'll be safe in here?" Camila whispers.

Lauren pauses and pretends to hear a noise coming from outside of the closet. "Did you hear that?" She asks the younger girl. "I think they're trying to open the door." She lies.

"Oh god oh god oh god." Camila says quietly. "We're seriously going to die. There's so much I haven't done Lauren! I haven't been sky diving, I haven't jumped into a pool filled with flour, I haven't visited Carlos Bakery!" She lists her eyes wide. "I haven't-" Camila cuts herself off and looks up at Lauren. Lauren blinks at her and waits for her to continue. Instead of saying anything else, Camila cups the older girls' cheeks and rushes forwards, bringing their lips together quickly. Okay, maybe this prank has gone a little far. Camila pulls away after a few seconds. "I
haven't confessed my love for you." She finished.

"Your love for me?" Lauren repeated, her eyes wide.

"Yeah." Camila says. "I've had a crush on you since I moved in, Lauren." She admits. "And now we're both going to die and we haven't even been on a date."

Lauren clears her throat. "Um... I was joking, Camz." She tells her before things really got out of hand.

"What?"

"There weren't any aliens at the door. I was getting you back for the glitter bomb prank you played on me." Lauren told her awkwardly. Camila looked into her eyes for a few seconds before she pushed the closet door open and ran out. "Camz, wait!" Lauren called, running after her.

"I'm sorry, Camz, I didn't mean to-" Camila stopped in her tracks.

"You didn't mean to what? Completely embarrass me? Humiliate me?" Camila throws her arms up. "That was my deepest darkest secret, Lauren!" She exclaims. "You made me think I had to tell you because we were actually about to die. I knew there weren't actually aliens coming tonight; I just wanted to spend time with you!" Lauren watches her pace around in front of her. "God, this is so fucking embarrassing. And now I can't even run away from you because the damn couch is in the way." She kicks it as hard as she can. "God that hurt!" Camila brings her foot up so she can hold her toes. Lauren just stands there staring, not knowing what to say to make her feel better. "Can you just go in the other room or something?" She asks through gritted teeth.

Lauren stands there for a second and then turns on her heels, walking into her bedroom. She sits on her bed and stares at the floor, thinking about everything that went down in the last few moments. Camila likes her. She's liked her for years and she never knew. And now what? Was Camila ever going to forgive her for that prank?

The green eyed girl stood back up and walked into the living room again. Camila was grunting as she pushed the couch into the kitchen... or attempted to. The leg of the couch was caught on the door frame and she couldn't push it any further. Camila fell limp against the arm of the chair and sighed, turning around to her left and finding Lauren watching her.

"What now? Come to tease me?" Camila asks bitterly, wiping the tears off her cheeks so Lauren wouldn't see them.

"I never said liking me was a bad thing. Why are you assuming my reaction was negative?" Lauren asks.

Camila shrugs and turns around so she doesn't have to look at her. "I mean, you don't like me back so I don't see how it was positive." She goes back to pushing the couch.

"Says who?" Lauren asks again.

The younger girl stops. "You don't like me, Lauren, I know it. Don't try to make me feel better, okay? I just want to go home." Camila bites the inside of her cheek to stop herself from crying any more. Lauren sighs and walks right up to Camila, pulls her hat off of her head and picks her up, holding her on her shoulder. "What are you doing? Let me go!" She kicks her legs. Lauren tightens her grip and carries Camila down the hallway. She throws her on the bed and turns off the light, climbing into bed next to her. Lauren yawns and covers them in blankets. "What are you doing?" Camila asks again.

"Go to sleep, Camz." Lauren tells her and leans on top of the girl to peck her lips. Camila lays flat against Lauren's pillow in surprise. "Goodnight." Lauren smiles and gets back in her spot.

The initial shock passed and Camila shoots upwards. "You can't just expect me to sleep after that! What does that mean?" She asks. Lauren had her eyes closed. "Lauren, I know you're awake."

"Go to sleep." Lauren replied. "You're going to need energy for our date tomorrow." She tells her, pulling her hat off her head and setting it on her nightstand, right next to Camila's.

"But Lauren I don't-"

Lauren groaned and opened her arms. "Come cuddle and go to sleep." She told her again.

Camila groans and lays her body on top of Lauren's. The older girl smiled and wrapped her arms around her tightly. "IveSecretlyHadACrushOnYouForALongTimeTooOkayGoodnight." Lauren says, all in one breath.

"Really?" Camila goes to sit up but Lauren stops her in her tracks.

"I'm going to call the aliens on you if you don't go to sleep." She threatens and Camila finally stops questioning her.
