A.  G.  G.  As a result of constant pressure, Maharana Swaroop Singh reluctantly declared that if a man tortured a woman on suspicion of being a witch, he would be sentenced to six months imprisonment.  If he commits murder, he will be punished as a murderer.  But even after this announcement of the Maharana, such incidents continued to happen from time to time.  Although this evil practice could not be completely eradicated in the society even by the actions taken by the British authorities and the Maharana, the atrocities against the dacoits did decrease in the late 19th century.

The killing of a woman who had been proved to be a witch was banned by the British authorities, but now the cunning women began to pretend to be witches and the orthodox society, which still suffered from witchcraft, used them to avoid such women.  He started giving the requested items.  Maharana Sajjan Singh started expelling such cunning women from the country, yet the fear of Dakan did not end in the society.
