~Enji's POV~
Enya was distraught by the death of her driver. I'd been worried the whole ordeal would completely shatter her soft heart but she seemed to be holding up pretty well. Annoyingly enough, she clung to the cape that hero had given her like a security blanket. I'd caught her a few times looking as if she were feeling down before she'd suddenly get a goofy grin, hug the cape and shake away the darkness.
I'd always been her hero, the one she looked up to and depended on. I didn't like that this other grinning golden goofball had somehow wedged his way into the picture. The plush I'd gotten for her had found its way to a shelf, as if she no longer needed it to help her sleep, instead she'd begun using the cape as a blanket which really got under my skin.
A few weeks after the incident, when Enya seemed to be feeling more herself, I was aggravated to see she still clung to the cape. Annoyed, I did some digging, the hero who'd saved my baby sister was named All Might, the most ridiculous of names. He wasn't much older than me and had also attended UA. He'd disappeared to America for a short time a year ago and it seemed was planning another trip back. Part of me hoped he'd stay there forever; I didn't like how familiar he'd been with my sister or how obsessed she seemed to be with him now.
I had a very rare day off and headed to Enya's room to sneak her away to the archery range. She used to pester me about it every day but she'd stopped asking after the accident. As I reached her room, I paused as I thought I heard her giggling and making odd 'woosh' and 'zoom' sounds. What was she doing? I quietly opened the door in time to see her leap off her bed, apparently playing pretend by herself in her room. All Might's stupid cape was tied around her neck flapping about behind her.
"What are you doing?" I sighed.
She hit the ground and let out a cute embarrassed squeal before turning a bright shade of scarlet. "N-nothing." She yelped before hurriedly untying the cape.
I tried my best not to look as annoyed as I felt. "You shouldn't play around like that; you could hurt yourself." I groaned inwardly, why the hell was I scolding her?
She bowed her head. "S-sorry, Nii-sama."
I sighed, "it's fine, just be more careful next time." I tried to repair the damage I'd done before running my hand through my hair trying to shake away the negative thoughts and feelings that stupid cape brought out in me, "I wanted to see if you wanted to sneak out for some archery."
Her bright blue eyes lit up, "really? You have time for me today?"
Ouch. My chest constricted. I definitely deserved that. "Yeah...I'm sorry I've been so busy lately. I won't let it happen again. I'll always make time for you."
Her smile was absolutely radiant, "you're the best, Nii-sama."
"Come on." I held my hand out to her, "but the cape stays here." I grumbled as she started to move toward me with the cape still in her arms.
She looked to me curiously for a moment before setting the cape on her bed. For a fleeting moment I thought about setting it on fire, but remembered how heart broken she'd been when her unicorn plush had been reduced to cinders and immediately regretted letting myself entertain the idea. I couldn't do that to her, no matter how bothersome her new admiration for this annoying All Might was. There was a little bit of a skip in her step as she scrambled over to me and slipped her hand in mine.
We took the servants stairs to the kitchen and escaped out the back way. The servants pretended not to see us as we snuck off the premises to the awaiting cab I'd called. Enya looked positively giddy as we got into the back of the cab making a clean get away. The cab driver offered us a polite greeting and seemed somewhat shocked when I told him our destination but didn't question me further.
