"Mama!" Nate cried as he toddled up to Eva who was sitting in the chair in her hospital room.
She dressed in a simple light blue day dress to meet her children, she didn't want to meet them
lying down in the hospital bed.
Amelia waited as Eva kissed and hugged her sons. The boys were too young to know the true
significance of seeing their mother, but Amelia wasn't. Even though, she was never told the full
extent of Eva's injury, she instinctively knew it was bad enough that she didn't hear her mother's
voice for two weeks and couldn't see her for so long. She began shedding the tears she held in
for the last six weeks.
Noah took the boys off Eva and Amelia cautiously approached her mother. Her small hands
caressed Eva's face as though to assure herself that this was truly her mother. Eva smiled at
Amelia then enveloped her in a warm hug. Eva's back ached at the action, but she didn't let go
until Amelia did.
"Mommy!" Amelia cried. "You're okay!"
"Yes sweetie, I'm fine." Eva assured her as she stroked Amelia's dark hair.
Amelia pulled away drying her tears with Eva's help. They smiled at each other, then Amelia
suggested "We should start spanking, Grandma said it never hurt Daddy and he's President."
Everyone laughed and the depression in the room faded.
"The boys will be that way for a bit till they grow up and get the hang of things. You just have to
have a little patience." Eva informed her sagely.
"Grandma says they may get worse if they keep acting like Daddy." Amelia countered.
"I wasn't that bad!" Noah complained as he juggled the fidgeting twins.
"Oh," Ana put in. "I suggest Eva, you watch their sugar intake till their five and even after only in
small amounts. One cookie usually made that one act like he can fly."
"You heard Grandma," Amelia told the boys, wagging her finger at them. "No more cookies till
you're older." Nate made a grab at the bow in her hair and she dodged him easily saying "See
what I mean!"
Noah put them on the ground and one proceeded to crawl under the bed and the other turn it
into a jungle gym. He had to pick them up again to stop their antics.
"Were going to need a bigger playroom." Eva remarked as she watched them.
