It takes me a second to realize I am an idiot. She probably just watched me greedily scarf down parts of a deer. I probably also have blood all over my snout, though it won't be as visible since my fur is black. I lick it off of my snout and she starts to cry harder.
I debate on changing forms to the humanoid, but reject that thought promptly. I don't know what planet I am on, I might get hunted down by the sentients and captured as a slave. Slavery is fully legal in most worlds of the universe and it is not something I want to participate in.
I approach her easily as she does not run away because she is rooted to the spot in fear. I walk up to her calmly and gently lick her arm. She freezes for a second before softly and timidly patting my head. I can't help but lean into it because it feels so good.
She starts to giggle a little bit and cheers up. "Good doggy!'
LEO has the language set so that the player could understand the common language of the planet that they are on instantly. Once the players get to space, the players will need to purchase a translator. A nice thing is that all players speak their real world native language and the game automatically translates it into their planet's native language. Even in space, a player will always be able to understand another player, no matter what nationality or part of the world they are from.
Standing next to her, I am a little taller than her standing up. She looks like she could be maybe 13 years old. I glance around, looking for other elves but don't see any. That's odd, who would let a little girl roam around?
As if the girl notices my attention, she starts to speak, "Can you help me big doggy? I'm lost and can't find my way back to the village."
{Ding! Quest obtained: Lost Elf(Difficulty rating:D}: The little elven girl is lost. You should help her. Just like elves belong on shelves, she belongs in her village. Wait, isn't she an elf?
Reward:400 XP}
I can't help but chuckle internally at the quest tip. LEO grew some fame from the snarky and funny titles and quests that would pop up. Most of the time people got a good laugh, but some people complained about it. In version A-1, about a year after release, an option was added to the settings to toggle the amount of snark and funniness the system could use.
I accept the quest. The first level up is at 500 XP and I already got 100 from the deer I killed. This quest should give me just enough to get to level 1. Once a gamer always a gamer, I can't just let this quest go.
The way that ratings work in this game is D, C, B, A, S, S+. These ratings are used for various things such as a way of telling power through D being weakest and S+ being strongest, a way of rating with D at easiest and S+ extremely difficult, and telling the resources of a place with D being barren and S+ being wealthy.
I nod my head at her and motion with my snout to my back as I lower myself to the ground. The girl looks up at me.
"You're a smart doggy. Are you letting me ride you? Awww, thank you doggy."
The elf girl scampers up on my back. She doesn't weigh too much, so I can easily walk around with her on me. I start to sniff the surroundings before I catch her scent trail and follow it back the way it came. Her scent reminds me of gingerbread cookies.
I follow it for about 30 minutes, running across a few more deer, some small critters, and a few monsters I strafed around before I find a small village with a wooden wall around it. The entire way here, the little elf would not shut up. She just kept talking about the things in her village. I learned that it was called Emvil Village and that her name was Cassia. Me being a nice person, did not say anything about her talking too much.
What's that? You think I didn't say anything because she was rubbing me head and it felt good? Wrong, what kind of lowly creature do you take me to be. You think I would be so easily tamed by constant head rubs? To think that I had such a low stan- mmmm, that does feel good. What was I saying?
I walked around the perimeter of the village from inside the forest. I wasn't foolish enough to believe that the elves wouldn't shoot at or attack me if I approached. I walked the perimeter until I found a small wooden gate manned by a tall elven male. He is just standing outside the gate, looking worried.
I let the girl off of my back a little ways inside the forest and sit down for a second. Cassia walks forward a little bit before looking back at me. "Doggy, are you not coming to the village with me?"
I shake my head at her before standing up and nudging her with my snout towards the village. She looks a little sad before walking towards the village. I follow her from behind a little ways and watch as she walks towards the gate.
{Ding! Skill: Sneak(P,lvl:1): Level up}
The male elf has an overjoyed expression on his face as he runs towards her. She runs to him and is picked up and hugged tightly. Even from here, I hear her talk about a nice doggy that led her home when she was asked by the male elf how she got back.
Seeing that she is home, I turn around and walk back into the forest.
{Ding! Quest: Lost Elf completed.
Hidden Objective met: Awww, look at you, being a nice person and watching out to make sure the girl wasn't harmed. Did you expect a reward? Wait, I have to give a reward?
Reward dispensing: 400 XP, a doggy treat}
A small bone appears in front of me and I quickly gobble it down. Even if the reward sucked, one should always accept it.
{Ding! Level up! Level:2 Gain 4 attribute points, 1 Charisma}
I feel excited as I level up, but that excitement quickly dries up as I see that instead of having 5 attribute points, I have 4 and one Charisma. Most races give 5 points per level up. Wolfkin apparently got 4 points and one Charisma. It's not a huge problem, but Charisma is not the best attribute to put a lot of points into. All it does is increase your likeness and how pretty or handsome you are to other people.
I put 3 points into dexterity and one into strength.
