make an oc that is decended from guts and inherits his armor and blade. he is then is found by monsters and rushes to camp half blood. you can make this part how ever you like it. have this happen around 2 to 3 years before percy jackson reaches the camp. my own choice for the characters love interest would be clarese the daughter of ares. due to guts being a man famed as the hundred man slayer before he even lost his arm and took up his monsterous blade.
Those that claim the armor and blade and wear them in combat are destined to die by combat or the armor itself, due to the nature of the armor itself. You can and should change the stories to better fit the fan fiction because if you don't then the character would mostly seem out of place. the back stories and how the oc fits in thought is entirely up to you the author.
