Third Pov
Norman and Ray silently marvelled at just how attractive Erica was once again. But suddenly, she put both arms up into the air and let out a fake cheerful giggle with an innocent, bright smile as a band of younger children swarmed around her, chattering happily.
"Tiny humans are so cute!!!" Erica cheered, pulling the kids into a big group hug.
The trio felt chills go down their spine.
It was as though she'd become a completely different person at the flip of a switch.
"Erica, let's play tag!!"
"Yeah!! Come play tag with us!!"
"Play, play!!"
"All right, but if I catch you, then you have to tell me your names and age, all right?" Erica announced, putting a mischievous smile on her face.
The eight-year-old trio flinched slightly when Erica's navy blue eyes turned to them.
"You guys will play too, right?" Erica suggested with a smile.
"Come play with us, Emma!!"
"Norman, you're going to join us too, right?"
"Come on, Ray!! You never play with us anymore!!"
The children whined, pulling the older kids along to the fields. Emma, Ray, and Norman wordlessly followed them, still a bit stunned by Erica's sudden change in demeanour. Erica, still with a smile on her lips, pulled out a pocket-watch from her pocket and faced the kids.
"I'll give you guys one minute. The time limit is twenty minutes. Ready... go!!"
Excited screams, giggles, and laughter echoed around the grassy field as the children ran to all directions. Erica breathed in deeply, feeling the power coarse through every fibre of her being. She could feel Isabella's eyes trained on her back. But it didn't matter.
Mom or not, she was still just a human.
--- Ray Pov ---
Having been dragged into the game involuntarily, I decided to use this chance as a means to find out more about Erica. Something felt... off about her. Mom was cunning and intelligent, and highly proficient in acting. Erica was obviously also great at acting- or was it just her personality? Something about her was dangerous. I could feel it.
She reminds me of those Demons... But it can't be, right?
If she was one of them, why would she be here, wearing a uniform similar to ours?
"Lost in thought?"
"GAH"
I turned around, falling onto my butt in the progress. Erica was standing right behind me, hands clasped innocently behind her back. She leaned forward and used her thumb and index finger to pull my chin up. Then, crouching down to my level, Erica gently pushed my bangs behind my ear.
"You'll get hurt if you don't watch your surroundings. Can't have you hurting this pretty face of yours, now, can I?" She whispered seductively, before drawing back.
"Caught you!!" Erica cheered childishly, pumping her arms up and down like a normal kid her age.
Then she went speeding off.
With a sigh, I stood up, dusted myself off, and headed back to the large tree in front of Home. I didn't know anything about her. I couldn't understand whatever the hell she was playing at.
"Damn it!!"
I swear that I'll get the answers out of you or Mom, one way or another. Gritting my teeth, I sat under the tree, waiting for the kids' return.
It didn't take long for all the young ones to come back, whining about how quickly they had been caught. Erica was as twice as fast as me or Norman. It took at least ten minutes for us to catch the little kids, but it only took her five.
"Aw man, and I thought that I had this game in the bag..." Don complained, sitting down on the ground with a hefty sigh.
"Ray?! She caught you already?! Oh man, at this pace, Erica's going to finish the game and win in ten minutes!!!" He continued, noticing me sitting underneath the tree.
The little kids cheered loudly as two people ran out of the forest and into the meadow. One had long snow-white hair, while the other had short, silvery platinum-blonde hair. It was Erica and Norman.
"Run, Norman, run!!"
"Go Norman!!"
The kids' cheers died down when Erica literally tackled Norman onto the ground, twisting her body midair so that she could cushion the blow. I narrowed my eyes at her protective move. Why would she do that? She doesn't know us at all, and it's not as though she cares for us in some way or form. I took note of the strange event to ask about later.
Erica helped Norman up, then bounded into the forest once again in search of Emma.
She had fourteen minutes left.
