Lauren groaned as she, for the third time now, unpinned her hair from the updo and let it fall to its natural state on her shoulders. Deciding against failing to redo her locks for a fourth time, she grabbed her shoulder bag and bounded down the hall, her flats clicking with every step.
"Bye Cooper, I'm heading off to work." The brunette called while grabbing the keys to her car. She was getting as close to late as it was due to her failed attempts at styling her hair.
"Don't die while at work Squirt." Cooper chuckled as he pulled his younger sister into a hug. Lauren was notorious for being a klutz and her working in a space with many sharp objects didn't help her case too much.
"Yeah yeah," Lauren laughed as she pulled away, "oh, before I forget. I'm having dinner with Barry tonight so don't wait up."
"Hanging out with Allen instead of your loving brother I see." Cooper teased as his sibling's cheeks turned a light pink.
"Shut it Coop," she sighed as she pulled open the door, "I'll see you when I get back."
"You know I love you!" Cooper chuckled as the brunette rolled her eyes and waved off her older brother. Although she loved him to no ends, he would always remain the annoying sibling that she wouldn't mind taping their mouth shut every once in a while.

Lauren blew out a breath as she swung open the glass doors to the Central City Police Department and made her way down to the office she had found herself in one too many times. After a long day at work, walking through the usually barren building gave her a sense of peace.
"Hey daddy," she smiled as her tired father looked up from his stack of files, "I brought you take out from across the hospital since you have a late shift tonight," and she slowly pulled up her arm, revealing a paper bag full of delicious Chinese food in her grasp.
"And Cooper questions why you're the favorite," the older man chuckled as he rose from his desk and hugged his daughter as soon as she set the food down on a table, "thank you Princess."
"You know, you could be at home enjoying this food if you would suck up your pride and admit you're tired everyone once in a while. Even the Captain of Police needs a break." Lauren sighed as her father tucked into the still warm lo mien with a pair of chopsticks.
"But I work better in the dark, didn't you know I was Batman?" Her father chuckled before taking another bit of his food, leaving his daughter to roll her eyes at his antics.
"Dad.." She drawled out, not resisting a smile of her own at her father's sense of humor.
"Lauren, I love what I do, just like you do when you're working up a storm in that hospital of yours," Captain Anderson said settling his gaze on the face of his youngest child, "I know my own limits, there's no need to worry about me."
Lauren sighed, knowing that the stubbornness of her father was worst than a pack mule, and gave him a small smile, "I'm always gonna worry about you Dad, it's in the job description."
"I think that's my line sweetheart," he chuckled as he set his takeout box down and pulled her into a warm hug, "I've been in the force since Cooper was a toddler. I think I've got a grip on what I'm dealing with."
