" Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! " From her closet door she runs over to shut her alarm off.
" Finally, your up before your alarm went off. " she hears from behind her. " Now you can have breakfast before you leave. "
" Okay, mom. " I say as my mom walks down the stairs. Heading back to her closet I asks myself, " Hm, now what to wear? "
I throws a pair of ripped up skinny jeans on the floor, and some t-shirts with a smiley faces on them. When I sees a black shirt on the top of the shelf, I wonder what shirt it is, and take it. " I guess I'll just ware this and my shorts. " I said as I was walking into the bathroom to do my hair, and brush my teeth.
I looked down at my watch and realized I had ten minutes until I had to leave, because I couldn't find anything to ware. " Shit! " I say with my tooth brush still in my mouth, " I'm gonna be late! "
" Kisha! The bus is coming around the corner! " mom yelled. So I hurried and grabbed my bag and my phone. As I was running out the door I had to grab my money for lunch off the counter. " Bye! " my mom yelled as I ran onto the bus.
When I got on the bus I found a seat across from a guy who lives down the street. His dad helps my family a lot so we see each other often. " Hey Kisha. " he says to me.
" Oh, hey Ray. " I said as I got my phone from my pocket. " How's your dad? "
" Oh, he's good. "
" Good to hear. " I say finishing up our conversation, and putting my ear buds in. And the first song I hear is Ray's favorite, With Out Me by Eminem. I look back over at him with a smile, taking out one of my ear buds so we could talk some more.
" So... " he started.
When he was interrupted by, " Kisha! How ya doin'? " a guy named Darius RodLuco said as he sat in the seat in front of Ray.I shake my head to let him know I don't care about what he has to say and start talking to Ray, " What were you saying Ray? "
We talked for the next five stops then we stoped at Southeast Elementary School, our old elementary school. When all the buses got there we had to change buses to go to the high school.
When we changed buses I got on SE 4 and Ray got on SE 2, so we couldn't talk until the ride home, unless we saw each other in the hall. And the ride from Southeast to the high school was another thirty minutes, with out having anyone to talk to. I'm usually the only kid on SE 4 in the mornings, so I just listen to my music and read.
" I will. " I raced ahead of him, switching the hydra in front of me so he wouldn't see it, as he turned out the light and clicked the door locked behind us.
" Can I throw up yet? " Mizell heaved, as we power-raced out of the building. Both of us heaving.
" Not yet. Not 'til we're away from Michael Dowd and his walkie-talkie. "
I collapsed against the side of the building with his words, the words that ended his latest rhyme , still in my head: Then post it on Facebook, to get what I took.We still weren't finished.
I read to my self until some one came up and sat across from me. " Whatcha readin'? " he asked.
" Dig two Graves by Kim Powers. " I say while closing the book on my lap.
" Oh, that's a good one. " he says while sticking out his hand, " I'm Zack by the way. "I turn to look at him and shake his hand, " I'm Kisha. "
He scoots to the edge of the seat closer to me and starts telling me about other books he's read like this. He throws out a hole bunch of books I've already read, then he gets a book from his bag I've never even heard of. " This is one of my favorites. It's called Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I don't know why I like it so much, I just do. I've read it over twenty times and it still gets me. " he finishes and hands me the book. I turn it over to read the summary, and am amazed by the story line.
" This sounds like a great book. " I say to Zack as he pulls out in other copy of the book. " And I'm not one to read about vampires and things like that. "
He writes something down in the copy he's holding, " If we could just trade copies and you can have this one. " I didn't ask why he wanted to trade but I did and put the book in my bag. " You seem pretty interested in death. "" Hm, what. "
" I've read all those books you have in your bag, and they all have death. "
" Yeah, I like reading non-real death because it gives me something to think about. " I try not to turn red from embarrassment.
Me and Zack sit in silence for the next five minutes until we get to the high school. When he gets off he looks a lot taller and heads strait for a group of senior boys who welcome him right away. And I stand and watch in shock that he's a senior, and not a freshmen like me.
I start heading for the door to the gym when I hear, " Kisha! Over here. " and when I turn around to see who's yelling, I see Zack waving his arm in the air. " Kisha! " I turn back around and continue to go inside.
