"Akari-san!" Misaki exclaimed as she tossed the ball from a distance outside the court.
To say that Katsumi was suprised was an understatement. She would have never expected that Misaki would say anything while in game. She was just not the type to open her mouth when playing. She would just nod or hand out signals, that's that.
Katsumi faltered for a bit before realizing it was a trap. The toss was too long to go to Akari, it would be impossible for her to hit. Actually, it was still hard for Reiko to hit, but that would be the only option they had. Katsumi's team was at set point after all, of course someone would pull something off last minute.
Katsumi swiftly jumped after the blonde who spiked the ball with so much force that it went right through the middle of her arms.
"Haannaaa!" Katsumi turned around, seeing that her sister instantly dived to save the ball.
"Push it!" Michimiya shouted from behind.
Katsumi ran and went after the ball, and for the how manyth time, she jumped.
She was faced to faced with Akari, both struggling for dominance in the air, until Katsumi suddenly found an amount of energy that surged throughout her exhausted body. She gathered all her strength , pushing herself up once more, she was higher than before, it was the jump.
Everyone's jaw dropped as they saw the exact same form on the magazine months ago. The one where her body was above the net. It was right before them, almost like im slow motion as everyone watched in astonishment.
She looked down on Akari's shocked expression, a cold gaze in her eyes, before she pushed the ball down forcefully without a hint of mercy.
Landing, firmly on the ground with no injury this time, not even the slightest bit of pain, she let out sigh of relief.
Sweat covered her face as she shot her head up. Kohana placed a hand on her shoulder, making her turn to her sister with a nod of gratitude. Kohana smiled in return, before both of them faced the other girls on the other side of the net.
The gym was quiet as they watched the players who were staring daggers at each other while breathing heavily. Katsumi had a calm yet cruel expression on her face, while Kohana grinned maniacally.
"They're monsters." Reiko spat as she gave them a deadly glare.
.
"Good Game."
The girl's eyebrows shot up as she watched Akari stretch out her arm for a handshake.
The two shook hands, while Misaki and Michimiya did the same. And let's just say it took a lot of glaring and forcing to get Kohana and Reiko do tha same but they did eventually."Just shake for crying out loud."
"No way! Who knows where her filthy hands have been." Kohana said, a disgusted look on her face as she gave a sarcastic grin.
Let's just say things got heating between the two during the second set of the game.
"Like I'd ever shake yours! And for your information these are the hands that killed that last shot!" Reiko flipped her hair dramatically.
"Killed it? You didn't even wound it! I recieved it like it was nothing you dipshit!"
"ENOUGH!" Akari and Katsumi yelled, before giving each other looks and turning away.
After 'shaking', Kohana instantly turned around with a huff and made her way towards the boys. Katsumi shook her head as she followed quietly, a small smile creeping up her face especially since the boys were already grinning when she neared.
"THAT'S KATSUMI AND KOHANA FOR YOU!!!"
"You were amazing Katsumi-san!" Hinata jumped at the unsuspecting girl.
"Hinataaa!!" The boys screamed.
She stumbled back and laughed, her gaze softening at Hinata's child like features. Sugawara managed to pull the orange haired boy away from Katsumi before they completely fall as the rest of the team congratulated them.
The missing noises that were supposed to be heard a while ago can now be heard echoing across the court. The boys were relieved that Katsumi's expression returned to the old one since the one during the game was quite unapproachable.
"Seriously. It's like winning is your birthright." Daichi said as he patted Katsumi's head, recieving a shy smile from the first year.
"I'll be going now, I still have some things I need to do."
Katsumi turned towards Michimiya who just slung her bag over her shoulder. Walking towards her, Katsumi halted infront of her and bowed.
"Thank you so much for today Senpai."
"Oh- It was nothing really. I kinda think I was the worst player here and I'm supposed to be a third year." Michimiya said, scratching the back of her head.
"Not at all..!! You were exceptional."
Katsumi smiled.
Michimiya exchanged a few more goodbyes with the rest of the group before her figured exited through the door and disappeared.
.
"Kohana, you have to help the boys here learn how to receive."
"Yeah you're fast. Like fast- fast! You were like whoop!! And then shooo and zoom-"
"He means to say you did great."
"I- Thank you..!!" Kohana grinned at the compliments, a littlr flustered.
"It's so unfair that people like Kageyama and you two are geniuses!"
"Actually, it took me a lot of practice to get the hang of it.. but thanks to Katsumi I eventually did." She said, rubbing her arm before continuing.
"Katsumi on the other hand.. you know how there are naturally talented people- geniuses, and there are people who actually worked hard to be good? She's both. If she still keeps improving she'd be hard to beat. She'd be unstoppable."
"You could be too, Kohana-san." Ennoshita said as he patted the girl's back, giving her a reassuring smile.
"Yeah!" Yachi exclaimed.
.
"So.. how did I do?" Katsumi said as she looked up at the megane. The others decided to leave her and Tsukishima alone after they caught the two exchanging looks.
"Better find out yourself cause I'm not praising you."
Katsumi pouted, but she couldn't help the laugh that escaped her lips as she shook her head.
"Atleast now I'm aware you only thought of praises." She smirked, poking his side.
"Care to introduce?"
Their heads shot towards Akari who managed to make her way towards them unnoticed. Exchanging knowing looks, Tsukishima narrowed his eyes at Katsumi as if daring her, but this only made the girl amused.
Akari was pretty alright, she could get any boy she want in a heart beat. But unfortunately for her this is Tsukishima Kei they were talking about. If only Katsumi wasn't aware of her not so hidden desires towards the blonde, then she wouldn't have minded.
Katsumi would have found it funny that Tsukishima was already unhappy at the thought of being introduced to Akari, if only the fact that she was seriously going to hit on him wasn't the case.
Katsumi shrugged before forcing a smile and turning towards the taller female.
"Akari, this is Tsukishima. Tsukishima Kei."
.
I know. It's crappy and unedited.
