I've been busy 😳

"So you're saying you have no experience in baseball what so ever? Do you think we're stupid to believe that?"
Katsumi's head shot from her shoes towards her tall upperclassmen who was leaning on the wall. Her face had obvious displeasure written all over it.
"C'mon now Ena-chan, don't be like that." The captain said as she gave the girl a disapproving look before smiling at Katsumi once more.
"It's true. If your good at baseball then that's where you belong. We take volleyball seriously and we waste no time on beginners." Much to everyone's suprise, Katsumi seemed unfazed as she stared back at Ena.
"Excuse me?" Everyone's gaze where shifting between the two as Ena walked towards the first year.
"Your father and brother were two of the greatest players who ever represented Japan in international competitions. You come from a family of baseball players after all, so of course people would expect you to also play baseball and not wander around other sports thinking it's all fun and games. We are a powerhouse school and we always win. I just don't think you can contribute to that if you're like this, in fact I'll say it directly, I don't want you to be a burden."
By now, everyone's eyes were wide but Katsumi kept a straight face, with not even the slightest sign of being offended. The other first years who also wanted to join were now shaking and giving each other worried looks.
"So just because I'm related to them it means that I should be like them too? That I should be playing the sport too? Is that it?"
"And I bet you expect me to be as good as them don't you? I should just leave now, play baseball and live up to your expectations huh?" She continued.
"Of course it's what anyone would expect. You're a Shimizu." The older girl raised her brow like her statement justified everything which was just ridiculous in Katsumi's opinion. At that moment she wanted nothing more than to 'be a Shimizu and whack her with a baseball bat'.
"Just because I bare the last name doesn't mean I should be good at it too. It doesn't even mean I should like the sport! Sure I grew to learn how it works, but is that enough reason to say I'm happy and I should just shut up and play?"
By now everyone was just waiting for what was about to happen next. Nobody expected that their first club meeting of the year would be this heated.
"I want to play volleyball." Katsumi said with the most serious tone she could muster as she took a step forward. It almost seemed as if she was challenging the senior.
The second years and third years exchanged looks and slowly huddled together, Eri being pulled by the captain, exempting the first years who were still exchanging looks akwardly.
Katsumi looked at Misaki, her classmate who had a neutral expression. She caught Katsumi looking and gave her a reassuring nod as if implying that she was with her.
"I like her! She stood up to Ena!""Funny."
"No seriously we should give her a chance."
"What you said was harsh Ena-chann~~""Tch. I had my fair share of stuck up popular people who rubs it in everybody else's faces."
"She doesn't seem that bad. She looks really nice.""Okay, okay.. so.."
The group was whispering among themselves for a few good minutes before turning towards the first years who were now waiting expectantly.
"Show us what you got then." Katsumi gave her signature smile as she looked at the rest of the girls who were now preparing to warm up.
A figure towered over her making her look up to see Ena who now looked calmer than before.
"You better be good, Shimizu-who-can't-play-baseball." She said before she gave the first year a cheeky grin, a playful glint in her eyes as she walked away.
Katsumi smiled to herself as she dropped her bag and made her way to the rest to get ready.
"I'll show you."
.
There they were, standing proud and tall, their expressions serious and sly, with cheeky grins on their faces except for two of them. Her fellow first years that time who played by her side for the next three years of their junior high.
'Definitely a pack of wolves you shouldn't be messing around with.'
Katsumi didn't realize she was holding her breath until Sugawara placed a hand on her shoulder making her turn to him and he smiled at her tenderly.
She walked towards them and her gaze scanned each familiar face that reminded her of the old memories she spent on the court. They had so many victories together, they did so many things together.
Shaking her head, she halted infront of them and Kohana immediately went to stand beside her. Slowly, she gave them a genuine smile that suprised everyone.
"Welcome to Miyagi. How was your trip?"
Now Reiko had her mouth agape. She expected a bad reaction from their former teammate who they so badly treated. She even smiled at them and is now casually welcoming them.
"The girls and I had fun at the beach. We haven't toured Miyagi yet tho." Yuki said since nobody bothered to reply.
"It's nothing like Tokyo though." Chiyo said nonchalantly, busy with her phone.
The atmosphere was akward and intense. Until a tall girl, about 5'9 made her way to the front. Her jet black hair parted in the middle and tied into a tight low ponytail. She gazed at Katsumi whose smile has disappeared.
"Katsumi."
By now, everyone in the gym was circling them, listening on the conversation. It didn't take long for the boys to know that these girls were 'those girls'. They kept exchanging glances as they stood protectively behind Katsumi.
"Akari." Acknowledging her former captain, she gave a nod.
Akari made her way to the front, as she looked at Katsumi from head to toe. Katsumi was aware of this but paid no mind to it.
"You better be ready."
"I already am."
