"We've seen true horrors... That's why the dementors affect us so much."

The first few days at Hogwarts wasn't so bad

The first few days at Hogwarts wasn't so bad. Phoenix was paired with Blair for a room, and the Slytherin common room was quite a beautiful place despite being in the dungeon. Some of the other Slytherins were quite friendly to her, and she felt rather at home with the group. If she ignored the fact that Malfoy was a part of it that is. He spoke to her on occasion, but it was always something rude or vile. Phoenix as she promised kept her mouth shut for the first few days. She would only roll her eyes and remind herself that she was the better person. Of course, she thought anyone could be a better person then Draco Malfoy. It wasn't that difficult even Pansy Parkinson could be better.

Today though started off like any morning. Phoenix awoke to the brilliant morning sun shining through her window. Her eyes squinting to see properly as they adjusted to the light. She sighed and shifted out of bed shuddering as the chilly dungeon air hit her skin. She noticed Blair had already gotten up, and she wondered worriedly if perhaps she overslept. So, she was quick to change into uniform and tug her cloak over her clothes. Her eyes scanning the room for a moment to make sure didn't miss anything before she stepped out. She descended from the girl's dormitory stairs stopping on the bottom one when she met the eyes of Malfoy. She huffed slightly at that and said, "Of course I meet you on my way out... Are you stalking me Malfoy?" She hopped off the bottom step and dusted off her robes noticing some dirt still clung to them from Care of Magical Creatures.

At the mention of following her, Draco's nose scrunched up. "Stalk you? As if, I was just heading to breakfast. I would say your stalking me if anything. First the bookstore and now you've suddenly transferred here." He responded simply. His voice monotone as he headed towards the exit. He pushed the door open and glanced back raising an eyebrow when Phoenix didn't move. "Well come on Dumbledore we don't have all day, do we?"

Phoenix scoffed slightly grumbling under her breath, "You're so irritating Malfoy." She slipped past him muttering thanks as she waited for the blonde since they were apparently heading to the cafeteria together. She eyed Draco curiously as they walked through the halls of Hogwarts towards the great Hall. Draco himself was quiet, and she wondered for a moment if he was being... nice?

"Why are you staring?" Draco finally snapped. His eyes flickering to Phoenix's form, and she instantly glanced away suddenly feeling rather embarrassed. She felt something flaring up in her chest, and she wondered if perhaps it was frustration with the boy, because it felt like that feeling.

"Just noting that green looks bloody awful on you is all. A bit too pale for it if I'm going to be honest," She responded simply. Her rather defensive walls up once more and noticed the opening to the great hall just a few feet away. Her hopes lifting somewhat when she realized that she was so close to seeing Blair and Malfoy would ignore her again.
