We walked halfway across the city and back. Every time we came across some Pierce the Veil fans, Vic was so gracious. He took pictures with them, signed autographs and told them he couldn't wait to see them at the show- then politely told them that we were  going to grab a bite to eat. By about 2pm, that was true. He gave a small group of guys and girls a wide smile and said goodbye, just before grabbing my hand loosely and using his other hand to wave at them. We turned away and began to walk down the street.
Wait. What?
Before I got the chance to look down at our hands, he had taken his away and put it behind my back, gently ushering me in the doorway of a sandwich bar. My heart felt like it was about to burst out of my chest- the kind of feeling you get when you've just gotten caught doing something you really shouldn't have been doing.
We sat down at a table by the window. Simultaneously, Vic and I both opened our mouths to speak. Then I felt my phone vibrate in my backpack, and his rang somewhere in his hoodie.
"Oh shit," I scrambled to get it out.
"Oh shit!" Vic laughed while pulling his out of his pocket.
I had like six texts each from my friends asking where the fuck I was. I was meant to meet them what, like, four hours beforehand? I didn't know what to do.. I didn't want to leave Vic but I couldn't follow him around all day.. Luckily, I didn't have to figure it out for myself.
"The guys are looking for me, soundcheck started a half hour ago.." he chuckled.
"Yeah, there's a search party out for me too," I smiled, a little sad.
He sighed, then perked up.
"Hey, didn't you say your sister lives around here?" he asked.
"Yeah, b-"
"Tell your friends you met her and you're just.. Doing something. Or something. We'll make it up to them later, I promise!"
How could I have said no to that smile.
"Okay, b-"
"Ah-ah." He interrupted me again, raising his finger, signalling me to hush.
"First, we'll do soundcheck early so we can get dinner before the show. After the show, we'll all get pizza- and then we've got a party to go to."
"A party?" I raised my eyebrow.
"A party." he confirmed. "Band, support, crew and guests." he gestured to me, and then my phone, with that last word. I felt one side of my mouth curl up.
"Deal?"
"Deal."
