The boys straightened out all the kinks within an hour or so with the help of their crew. They got to take a break when their support band- a pretty cool group of guys called Woe, Is Me- took the stage to fix any bugs.
Vic grabbed a bottle of water from the drinks table and flopped down on my couch. I tried to, but I couldn't stop staring at his long, skinny body stretched out beside me. He turned his head and smiled at me, breathing sort-of-heavily through his mouth.
Oh my.
"You guys sounded great. The show is going to be awesome," I said, feeling the meet and greeters' eyes burning holes into my skull again. I flicked mine in their direction, so that Vic could see but they couldn't.
He laughed. "Thank you.. I hope so. We get ten minutes break and then it's meet and greet time," he said. "Tell your friends to be at the back door as soon as they can."
"Really?" I asked in disbelief, "Vic, that's so good of you.."
"Don't mention it," he smiled a bashful lopsided smile. "Your friends are our friends."
Speaking of friends, mine were going to fucking freak out.
"Come on," he said before hopping up and heading to the small bar at the back of the room under the balcony.
As we sat on the bar stools with Mike, Jaime, Tony and a chill sound guy called Will, I typed out a text to Selena;/Get all your asses to the back door of the Academy as soon as you can, don't ask questions just walk faster ok gO/
I got one back almost immediately.
/Wait what okay just let me finish my chicken I'll call you when we're there/
I put my phone back in my backpack and joined in on the conversation.
All too soon, Notebook Woman walked up to the bar and asked the boys to move into the next room for the meet and greet. Vic looked at me.
"It's okay," I said, "I'll stay here and wait for the guys to arrive. They shouldn't be long."
He smiled and tossed me his lanyard with the card thing.
"Use that to get them in!" he called over his shoulder as he left the room with the others.
I leaned back on the bar and watched the Woe, Is Me guys goof off onstage for a bit, all the while thoughts about how this probably wasn't real were knocking around in my head- just one of those daydreams you used to have when you were sixteen, I heard in my own voice.
My phone rang, sending me back to reality. I smirked to myself because.. It was reality.
Selena's name was on my screen.
I faked coolness and only half-sprinted to the back door. When I opened it, bouncer guy looked at me. I flashed Vic's lanyard and a very innocent smile, and he stepped aside.
