The two worked on math almost all night, until August realized it was nine o’clock at night. Rebecca was almost falling asleep on the large dining room table, pencil still in hand. As August went to front hall to retrieve his things, he looked back and she was asleep with her resting on the table. He put down his things, walked over to the table and realized something. She was even beautiful when she slept, she was always beautiful, always captivating. He tucked his hands behind her back, and under her legs. He lifted her slowly so he wouldn’t wake her. Rebecca’s auburn curls were draped on his arms, her eyelashes laid still on her face. August stopped dead in his tracks when her head shifted to rest against his shoulders. She exhaled softly, August crept up the stairs and looked for her room. It wasn’t hard to find, the walls were a teal color and her bed had a comforter with multiple colors and shapes. Her walls were adorned with inspiring quotes painted on canvases. August laid her down on the flannel sheets on her bed and pulled the comforter over her. He then went down stairs, thanked her mother for letting him visit, and left for home.
