Tegan winced as she meticulously made her way up the stairs. The throbbing in her knee returned again and she cursed her foul luck. "Damn..." She muttered under her breath through grit teeth as she leaned against the railing to take a short break.
"Hey, Tegan, do you want some help?"
Tegan turned around and saw (y/n) walking up the stairs with an easy-going smile. "Oh, hi (y/n). I'd actually love some help." Tegan admitted with no shame.
"Give me your arm, please." (y/n) extended his hand for Tegan to reach out to.
The NXT superstar hopped over slightly and took (y/n)'s hand, gingerly leaning her weight against him. "Just tell me if I'm being too heavy on you."
"Don't worry about it," (y/n) slid his arm around Tegan's lithe waist to better support her weight. "seeing as you're light as a feather."
Tegan chuckled, "Is that a compliment?"
"What do you think?" (y/n) said, waggling his brows. "That would be a pretty lame compliment to give to you if I'm being honest. After all, I mean, you're so talented."
"Really?" Tegan turned her head to look at (y/n) with a beaming smile which caused her eyes to squint ever so slightly. "Thanks I—" Her words were abrasively cut off as her foot slipped on the edge of the stairs step.
(Y/n) instinctively reached out and scooped Tegan up, preventing her from falling. "Woah, careful there."
Tegan wrapped her arms around (y/n)'s neck as they carried her. She blushed a little out of embarrassment. "I-I'm sorry... the injury is so pesky. I hate to be a drag like this and it's just terrible and I'm sorry for being an inconvenience and—"
"Hey, hey... stop that. You're not a drag so don't say things that bring you down. You just have an injury that's all." (Y/n) replied as he kept walking along the steps of the staircase. "Don't worry about it. This is no inconvenience at all." He grinned at Tegan and she couldn't help but return the sentiment upon seeing his lopsided, endearing smile.
"Thanks, you make this so much easier." Tegan replied as she fidgeted with her fingers, still blushing as (y/n) carried her.
"Heh, of course! Having me carry you is definitely easier than putting weight on—"
"N-no... I mean... I mean having you here with me made it so much easier." Tegan mumbled with her face turned away. She shrunk back a little and attempted to hide behind the veil of her soft, well-kept hair.
(Y/n) brushed the tresses out of the way to her surprise. Tegan's blush deepened in color as (y/n) looked at her with a gentle yet confident gaze.
(Y/n) leaned down and pressed a chaste, comforting kiss to Tegan's forehead. After (y/n) drew back, she could still feel the warmth of his lips against her skin. "Alright, here's your floor, Tegan. If you need me, contact me. I'm always happy to help. You're not alone."
Tegan bobbed her head swiftly. "Thank you so much."
"Of course. Anytime."
