The rest of your day went like most of your days go. It was the constant rush of going class to class that left you tired the moment you were able to settle back in your room. You exhaustedly flopped onto your bed, rethinking the events of the day. Your not the type to overthink, but the conscious mind is known to replay events whilst out of your control. You lay there, thinking...
You pondered many different things while your mind ran wild. Your friendships, your opinions, your ideals. It was much like an endless train of thought although somehow your deepening visions lead you to remember the conversation you had earlier with your somewhat mysterious classmate. There was something about him that you were oddly curious of, yet you struggled to shake it away. The idea of even thinking of a random human was all too strange for you. Especially someone that you'll be in class with for the rest of the year. It was much too uncomfortable, yet you were able to reassure yourself.
Ah, it's not an INTEREST...it's more of like a...a...a random thought. Nothing more than that.
Well, of course it wouldn't be anything more, right? You still don't know this person yet you felt like you had to know something about him. He seemed oddly different from most other people in Hopes Peak, and with your friends dwindling away, maybe you just might want to jump at the chance of knowing him better. Despite your positive attitude, you knew it would be next to impossible to be able to even show any sort of curiosity. It would make you look too weird. You sat upright, thinking of ways to break away from reality. You settled on going for a small walk, or simply just spending some time outside as the colder weather was approaching.
——
A light breeze brushed upon your face as you stepped outside the school. The sky was a light blue and students could be seen lingering among the courtyard. It seemed a tad bit crowded for your taste, and it would be hard to feel relaxed with the commotion of all the students on such a day, so you took a seat on the concrete steps, waiting for the students to clear up. Surely it wouldn't take that long, and you could always think to pass the time, for it was quiet enough where you were.
"Splendid day, is it not?"
Despite not knowing whom was around you, you immediately recognized that voice. You glance up to be met with a familiar pair of golden eyes.
"What are you doing here?" You find it somehow ironic that you found yourself in two situations with this particular student, all so very sudden.
"Ah.. I'm just reading." You glance down to notice a deep red book set in his slender hands. "Did you finish the one from earlier today?" You once again try to start a simple conversation, for it wouldn't be polite to just sit and stare as if he was on display. "I decided to start a new one, the topic of the old one was not of my interest. It was nice to try though." He hummed. You began to notice how he already settled his book down in a matter of seconds, and he brought his legs to his chest, comfortably resting his head on one knee so he could stare at you.
"What kind of...topics.. do you like?" You question.
"I personally find it to vary. I prefer topics that revolve around cultures, history, folklore.." he began to list. "Like anthropology?" You say, making the sudden connection.
"Yes! Precisely!" His narrow eyes grew wide, and although you were unable to see his mouth, he seemed to be somewhat happy. You grin in return, hoping you don't seem strange.
"I don't think we've been properly introduced." Your classmate started. "I'm Korekiyo." He said in a relaxed tone.
"I'm y/n" you responded reaching out a hand to shake his. "I feel as if it's good that we met." Korekiyo stated. "I believe your quite interesting." You couldn't help but become flustered at his sudden compliment, your face contorting as if you were a deer in headlights. "Is something wrong?" Korekiyo had a concerned look in his eyes. "Oh no nothing at all!" You giggle anxiously. For a moment you and Korekiyo simply sat there with immense eye contact. It wasn't much like any other situation you've been in before. He honestly was quite peculiar if you thought about it. His whole demeanour seemed very much strange, yet something about him seemed to stand out, and make him slightly more interesting than you initially thought. Eh... it's probably the mask. "You think too much you think too much" you told yourself. Despite recently meeting him, you found yourself quickly becoming anxious in his presence due to such feelings being new to you. No no no, you definitely didn't find him attractive or anything of the sort! Like you thought before, it's simply the nagging feeling of curiosity. That's all.

You never ended up walking among the courtyard. Instead you spent quite a bit of time talking with Korekiyo on the steps of the school. It was much like a slow burn, as if there was something either you or him wanted to say. The conversation felt a bit strange, yet there was something so comforting and raw about having a genuine conversation with someone who felt invested in what you had to say. It has been a while since you ever spoke like that with your other friends. Heck, you didn't even know if they still considered you a friend. Yet, after today, there was one thing you knew for sure, and that was the fact that you might be on your way to becoming friends with Korekiyo, who honestly was much more interesting than any of your old friends anyway. The way he spoke to you was different. It had a sort of style to it that you liked. You liked how seemingly calm he was. You liked the way he could speak forever about the things he took pride in. He was definitely something else, and definitely much different from the boys you grew up around. It may have been a day, but meeting what seemed like a new friend had lifted your mood like how the breeze lifted the autumn leaves through the air. It made you happy, yet you didn't know if Korekiyo was just being polite around you. "Crap! Your overthinking again!" You wince at yourself. You had many doubts but you didn't want them to affect your relationships with others. "I wonder if this sudden overthinking is just hormones." You shrugged. It was now growing a bit late and you had to sleep. As you climbed into bed and turned off the warm glow of your lamp, you couldn't help but feel a little bit excited for your history class tomorrow~
