We're nearing the end of this book!

-

Night time came and Cassandra was already at the kitchen, their usual hang out time. She sat down on the chair, fiddling with her fingers while waiting for him.

Every night, before she go to bed, Varian and her have their own time at the kitchen. She guessed that they can call it their friendship hangout night — Rapunzel's words, not hers.

It's nice to have someone she can talk to, someone who understands her. Don't get her wrong, Rapunzel is really a great friend but there is just some things a person wouldn't understand not unless they experienced it. For starters, their fathers limiting them what they should do. Her on the guard duty and him on alchemy.

"Hey."

She sat up straight and quickly turned her head to the side, her eyes widening to see him. She honestly shouldn't be surprised.

"Hey. Sorry, I didn't heard you come in," said the dark haired girl.

Varian chuckled. "It's fine." He went to the kitchen counter. "So, what do you want to eat?"

Cassandra placed a hand on her chin, thinking. He cooked a lot of food for her for the past few days but there's one thing she's been missing.

"Scrambled egg."

Varian placed the pan on the gas range and turned his head to her. "Really? The first one I cooked you? You usually say, 'something new'."

Cassandra chuckled and crossed her arms. "Well, let's just say that It brought memories."

Varian shrugged and turned to what he's doing. "If you say so."

A few minutes later, he was done. Two plates full of food for the two of them. He handed her her plate.

"Thanks," said Cassandra, taking the plate.

"Anything for you, Cassie."

They ate in silence which Cassandra really find akward. She let out a fake cough, trying to catch his attention.

"I-uh-" he cuts her off.

"I'm sorry about what happened earlier," he blabbered.

Cassandra looked away. "I was hoping that we wouldn't talk about it," she muttered, not realizing that Varian heard it.

Varian's eyes widened. "I-"

"It's okay, Var. Let's just not talk about it. You know hoe I hate talking about-"

"Feelings. Yeah, I know," he said. "I-uh, anyway, I have something on my lab that I wanna show you."

"Really?" She stood up. "Then let's check it out!"

"Yeah, let's go."

They arrived at his lab after a few minutes. He always show her all the new inventions he did each time they went there. Some failed and some did not. One even exploded! It's a good thing that they managed to tone down the fire but it surely woke everyone up in the castle. It's a good thing that she managed to think a quick excuse for what happened.

Varian took out the cloak that was blocking the machine. Cassandra crossed her arms and turned to him.

"So, what do you call this?"

Varian gave her a wide smile. "I call this one the Elemental Remogrifier."

"Elemental what? Anyway, what does it do?" She asked, her eyes examining the machine — searching for a hint if something goes wrong just in case.

"Watch," he said and took a sack of sand, pouring it inside the huge hole of the machine. He pulled a switch and it rotated then stopped after a few seconds.

"The rotation causes friction, which heats the sand. While the counter-centrifigual force promotes particle compression. The end result? Fifty pounds of sand turns into..." he trailed off, reaching hand inside the machine.

"H-hey, are you sure that it-" she reacted, worried for him.

"It's fine, Cassie." He took out something from inside it. A small purple gem. She find it beautiful as it sparkled in his hands.

"I call this element, Cassandrium."

Her heart skipped a beat at his words. Cassandrium? He named it after her? She can't believe it.

"Varian, I- I don't know what to say..."

Varian chuckled. "It's alright, Cassie. You don't need to say anything. You being here is enough."

"You're the best, you know that?"

"You're the first one who told me that."

---

"You ready, Cass?" Rapunzel asked.

"Yeah. I'm ready."

Rapunzel grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the dining room. They need to be there since important visitors had arrived.

Everyone was there, the King, Varian and even Sebastian. She saw two identical twin girls — the only difference where the lenght of their hair, one have a long one and the other have a should length one. She walked towards Varian, Rapunzel by her side.

"Who are they?" She asked him.

"Jamie's sisters," answered Varian.

The one with long hair gave everyone a very bright smile. "Hi! I am Princess Marion of Nersednia. It's my first time being here in this Kingdom! I hope all of us can get along!"

The short haired girl just rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "Princess Leilani of Nersednia. I'm really sleepy, can I go to my room now?"

Jamie told her to be careful of one of her sisters...

But which one?
