Chapter 2

Abnegation, the Selfless

Elsa's P.O.V

Hans started walking on the stage as he was talking " Today is the day you choose your future. Choose what feels right to you, but remember, once you choose you can never go back." These words have me chills running up my back. "If you don't enjoy the faction you are staying in, there is no going back, you are now factionless."

"Changing your future could possibly change our future." And with those words he made his way to a podium and called off names. The worst part of this is our last name starts with an A; Arens. Hans began reading off names.

"Fiona Aarons ." A girl with hazel hair came to the stage shaking. She wore she wore a blue dress and picked up the knife. She stood in front of the bowl with the Dauntless sign and she cut her self and let the blood drip slowly into the burning coals in the bowl. I looked at Hans and saw him grimace. Fiona walked slowly to the Dauntless section where Dauntless were clapping and patting her on the back offering her a seat.

Hans cleared his throat and continued "Benjamin Abram," and patiently waited for my turn watching people walk up to the stage either joining their faction again or joining a different one never being able to see or talk to your parents or family again.

Finally I heard Hans say "Anna Arens" and I turned to see Anna her face turning slightly white calmly got up and made her way to the stage. I could see her shoulders tighten. She grabbed the knife from the table and slice the palm of her hand, and stood over the Erudite bowl and let the blood drip in.

Shock hit me like a wave and my eyes widened. She glance up at us and saw my shocked face and looked on the verge of shedding a tear. She slowly walked of the stage toward the Erudite section.

"Elsa Arens," and in that moment everything seemed to freeze before my very eyes and I looked back and remembered what happened that day I took the test that determined my future.

(So I'm rereading Divergent and I realized that I skipped basically the most important part (kind of) of the whole thing... THE TEST!!!!! I was like 'Oh shoot!' So the next chapter will be the flash back and there will be other POVs so comment and tell me which POV you guys want to be! Thanks and sorry this took so long!)
