Diana sat before her desk, she was writing and very long letter. She tried to put in as much detail as she could. Though in her line of work, that wasn't always allowed. Samuel knew the truth about her and the mission though, so she did not have to digress as much as she usually had to. Still it made her sad to know that after the trial the next morning, her mission would be complete and she as well as Simon and her unborn children would leave the Tudor time, at least until the children were born.
Simon was making sure all the needed papers for the time were in order, it was the first time that Diana had seen Simon wearing spectacles, or glasses as she called them. A part of her was quite a bit more attracted to him, though she wasn't sure why. Her mother had warned her that her hormones would be out of balance and that could cause odd behaviors, so that is what she attributed it to.
"The king won't be kind will he?" Diana called out to Simon who was looking at the files before him, through a hologram projected by his watch.
"Doubtful, he is not often kind to those who try to make a fool of him. She will be completely at his mercy." Simon replied as he looked to Diana.
"She's as good as dead then." Diana sighed as she sealed her letter with wax.
"He did chop of two of his wives heads, so at this point I would not put anything past him." he shrugged as he turned off his watch.
The day had come, Camile was in shackles before the throne of the King and Queen. Anne had kept her promise and made sure Diana kept her head. For that Diana would be forever grateful. Looking to the two of them, she heard the case be presented to them. Witchcraft was a horrid thing to be accused of, not to mention lying to the king and trying to kill the ex queen's cousin as revenge. At least that is what the solicitor said. The contents of the black bag that Anne had discovered was brought out and each item within it, explained to them.
"Your majesty, if you judgement should rule that she is indeed a witch, I humbly suggest we remove her head as quickly as possible." the solicitor said with a humble bow.
Camile tried to break free of her chains, she yelled at the top of her lungs trying to plead her case and to prove that she was not in fact a witch. From the corner of her eye, Diana saw her mother and step father dressed as Tudor nobles, they were there to make sure the trial went on well and if she were to die in this time, they would take the body of Camile to her original time and say she had an "accident". It would not have been the first time they had such a task.
"Beheading would be too quickly, she must suffer for embarrassing not only you but another member of the royal family." Anne told Henry who seemed to nod in agreement with her.
"Burn her at the stake." the king's judgement bellowed from his mouth and awed the entire room.
Well, they wouldn't have to take the body back now...Diana closed her eyes and tried not to picture what was about to become Camile. The king ordered for the execution to take place within the hour. The staff of the castle scrambled out of the room to prepare the stake and wood which would kill Camile.
"Is this the first case of a witch being burnt at the stake?" Simon asked Diana.
She turned to him and shrugged, in truth she did not know. She tried to stay away from any time having to do with witches, her step father told her the stories of the witches from his time that were accused and put to death even with the smallest bit of evidence against them. She hated knowing they never got a true fair trial.
"It's better then what the boss wanted." Abigail whispered into her daughters ears.
Diana turned and looked to her step father with tears in her eyes, she knew she should feel no guilt over what was about to happen, but deep down she couldn't help it. Camile would die by fire as many other innocent people had been. John gave Diana a small hug, he could tell this sentence was truly affecting her.
"I know kiddo, but like your mother said, this is better then what her sentence was at HQ." John whispered to Diana who nodded.
They stood with a large group of people outside. A small stage stood before them with a large stake in the middle of it. Other bushels of branches were placed around it. The guards escorted Camile out. She did not try to fight them, instead she held her head high. Her demeanor had changed so much within the hour it had made Diana suspicious.
"She's too calm." Simon commented to Diana.
"Something up, no one about to be burned to death would have her air of confidence." Diana said looking around for any sign of someone willing to help her.
They began to tire Camile to the stake and yet still, she held her head high even smiling at the men. This wasn't right. She had a back up plan, only Diana didn't know what that plan was yet.
"You shall be burned as the witch you are! Any last words?!" the cardinal dressed in all red asked as he looked to Camile.
"You are all history, I am from a time where we don't sleep with cousins, or bed women just to chop their heads of when an heir can't be provided.." Camile started and she began to reveal things about the future, including Anne's demise as well as the beheading of her cousin Katherine Howard.
"She telling the future." Diana said about to touch her watch when she felt a burst of cold wind.
Both she and Simon looked around and saw everyone was standing completely still, as though they had been frozen. Someone had activated a time freeze and it wasn't Diana or Simon. They held still, to act as though they were frozen but looked to the stage. A shimmer beside Camile appeared and a blonde woman stepped out. She began to release Camile from her soon to be death.
"What took you so long?" Camile complained to the woman.
"Crissy wasn't sure we needed you, I suggested we save you and bring you back. After all you have information on Diana, Abigail's daughter. That in itself makes you valuable." the blonde said as she threw something into the air and a portal opened before them.
"I have plenty on that who and her man. I will tell you everything." Camile said as she stepped through the portal, the blonde following behind her and the portal disappearing.
"Fred hold the freeze." Diana mumbled.
Lucky for her, Fred heard and did as she requested. Diana looked to Simon who was in shock. He knew who Crissy was and so did Diana. This mission just became a a lot more complicated. Touching their watches they were transported back to HQ where Abigail and John were looking at the screen showing the Tudor period in shock.
"We have a serious problem." Abigail said as she began to type on the computer before her.
