The managers call in an accompianist to play with me. I give the pianist a copy of the score for "Danse Macabre" to play off of. I lift my bow and breathe in and out a few times to lower my heartrate. I begin to play, hesitantly at first but I quickly adapt. Having an accompianist makes me feel much more confident. I glance at the managers every once in a while, seeking approval in theit faces, and I am met with two men who are entranced by the music. I finally finish, and a rush of euphoria hits me. The managers even clap for my performance. "We are very pleased, indeed!" Monsieur Andre stood up and held out his hand for me to put mine in. I did so and he kissed the top of it. "Yes! You will make an excellent 2nd violin!" I had to stop my face from showing shock. My first audition and I got 2nd chair! "How many violins are there?" I couldn't help asking. "Five," Monsieur Firmin replied. I feel like I'm dreaming. Second out of five. "Merci beaucoup, messieurs," I was pretty much shaking with joy. They assigned me an empty room, so I settled in.

I got an urge to visit Christine, so I hurry to her new room. I knock and I hear her call "Enter!" I open the door and see Christine sitting on her bed. I pause and look around the room, "This room is huge!" She laughs quietly, "I know. I think it's a little excessive, but they insisted."  I sit beside her, "You deserve it, though. Your voice is so much better than Carlotta's." "Thank you," her voice turns curious, "How do you memorize everyone's names so quickly?" "Oh, that?" I wave a hand dismissively, "My parents taught me to memorize details such as names the first time I hear them."

"Anyway," my wide grin returns to my face, "while you're leading on the stage, I'll be supporting the melody as your very own 2nd violin." I make sure my tone doesn't sound bragging. "That's wonderful! I can't wait to perform with you for the first time!" My face heats up a little. I already look up to Christine, and hearing those words from her means a lot. "Same here."

After that day, Christine and I spent a lot of time practicing our parts. I used most of my free time to work on the music for Hannibal so I could catch up to the other musicians and prove I'm worthy of the spot I was given. It got to a point where I would hear the music in my sleep. When Christine and I weren't practicing, we were usually together. I grew very close to Christine and I consider her my best friend. She also introduced me to Meg, who became my second best friend.

My career in music is finally beginning, and I have two amazing friends that I love dearly. I am so excited to my first performance in Hannibal.
