So to start off this chapter, let's just say both Kanade and Hibiki are very talented musicians. And everyone wants to hear them perform.
Then one day, Hibiki decides to make them a bit more popular by announcing to a huge crowd that both of them are 100 times even better than Apollo, the God of music.
And since it's literally the exact same thing as saying you're hotter than Aphrodite, dissing the gods by saying that you're better than them is a literal death wish. So Apollo gets pissed about that and decides to show them what REAL music is about.
So after Kanade and Hibiki performed, they were consulted by an 8-year-old girl who yelled at them for saying that they're better than Apollo. Hibiki doesn't care and is all like "oh yeah?! Well, why don't Apollo HIMSELF show and challenge both of us!". "Wish. Granted" and the little girl immediately turns into Apollo.
Then a battle of the bands start. With Kanade and Hibiki going first, they played a soothing melody that calmed the hearts of everyone that heard it. Apollo, wasn't impressed. And then came Apollo's turn and with his lyre he plays a very beautiful melody that made everything that heard it cry. Then, it was obvious who the winner is.
Hibiki didn't accept the fact that she and Kanade lost, so she requested a rematch, which is one of the worse things she could have done. Then, because his patience was getting thin, he pretty much disintegrate them.
So, ouch. Then, the muses were there to witness that and are bumbed out about the lost of such talent. So they immortalized them into song birds.
