A/N So, some of you were infuriated by the last chapter of this POV, but I also got some mixed reviews. Some of you hated the character of Ananya and thought her rude, some loved her and completely agreed and some of you just agreed with the need for pizza! So hopefully this chapter helps to explain things slightly (I will also probably explain my point of view when writing this at the bottom). Not that you all have to agree, but just to clear things up a bit. And hopefully you will all hate this couple just a little less after this haha!
"Beautiful. Breath-taking. Brilliant!" I chanted as I looked at the beauty that was my girlfriend.
"What's wrong? Run out of 'B' words?" Ananya responded chidingly.
"Here's one for you: you're a blithering, bitter, busybody."
"Oh, blasphemous!" She giggled, delight shining in her beautiful amber eyes. "But really, you like it?"
She twirled slowly, glowing with pure beauty, radiant with joy and excitement. She was draped in a golden lace, skirts pooling around her feet. Around her wrapped a royal blue sari, circling around her waist and shoulders. She looked regal: a perfect picture of majesty.
"You look beautiful." I pressed a kiss to her cheek and fastened a corsage of deep blue to her wrist. "I'll be the luckiest man in the room tonight."
"And I'll be the luckiest girl in the world with a man as dapper as you on my arm."
I laughed as she hooked her arm through mine and steered me into our senior prom. The decorations themselves were adequate, though I wouldn't say it took much to hang up a few streamers and fairy lights- Goode High was definitely operating on a budget.
I was about to lead Ananya over to the buffet table when I felt a body slam into my shoulder and send me into a short slide across the wooden floor.
"I'm so sorry, man." I turned to see the one and only Percy Jackson, holding up his hands apologetically. "I didn't mean to shove you, I tripped over that stupid purse."
He kicked a bright pink leather purse away from his feet and towards the table he'd just passed where a girl snatched it up angrily.
"Don't worry about it," I shrugged.
Annabeth appeared behind Percy and grinned. "Ananya, you look stunning!"
Ananya smiled her thanks and told Annabeth she looked beautiful too (as girls tend to do at these dances).
"Percy, take a picture of us!" Annabeth handed her phone across to Percy who took a step back, and snapped a few pictures of the two girls.
"You both look beautiful enough to rival Aphrodite." Percy said, bowing mockingly to the girls as he handed back Annabeth's phone.
I caught Ananya's eyes as she laughed. Percy was right; Ananya was a beauty worthy of Aphrodite or Parvati or Venus or whichever god you likened her. She was magnificent.
Annabeth just swatted Percy on the shoulder and said, "Thanks, but let's not make her angry. I've been cursed with enough heartache for a lifetime."
The two smirked like they were sharing some inside joke. The duo did this all the time, so I knew it wasn't worth asking questions and just shrugged at Ananya's quizzing eyes.
As the song blaring throughout the hall switched to something upbeat and fun, Annabeth's eyes lit up. "Percy, this is the song we danced to at that dance... the one where we met Nico! Come on, we have to dance for old times' sake."
Annabeth shot onto the dance floor and Percy looked after her wistfully, a small smile on his face. Anybody who looked at Percy could tell that he had met his soulmate, that he only had eyes for one girl... I wonder if people saw the same on my face when I looked at Ananya.
