The confused demigod turned to Grover, hoping for some kind of assistance. "What was that all about?"

Between supressed giggles, Grover stuttered an, "I guess you could say we weren't in the same boat about a few things."

A surprised laugh erupted from Beckendorf's lips. He elbowed Grover as he spoke, "Yeah, we were just fish in completely different ponds-"

"Or canoe lakes!"

Whatever they were talking about, the duo was finding it hilarious, even Silena was laughing along eagerly. Percy added the pieces together in his head before scolding them.

"You did this?" Percy whined. "You teased her about the fact we were going canoeing, didn't you?"

Grover nodded. "Maybe a little."

"Grover!"

Silena chimed in, saving Grover from his friend's annoyed glares. "We didn't say much! We were just talking about how romantic a canoeing date is."

Percy tutted and took a deep breath. "Let's just all acknowledge now that it's not a date. But now let's just think about what you've done.

"Thanks to you lot, I now have to find a way to coax Annabeth out of being angry with me, an anger that you have created."

Grover stood to his feet and clapped Percy on the shoulder. "Well, there's nobody better for the job!"

As Grover had finished talking, Annabeth's shout sounded from the distance. "Seaweed Brain, hurry up!" Her tone was still frustrated and annoyed. Percy groaned inwardly at the prospect of the next argument he knew they were doomed to have. Though Percy did understand where Annabeth was coming from; he never seemed to be able to escape the taunts of other campers about their friendship. Usually, Percy managed to buffer the rumours and gossip about them, taking the brunt force and shutting it down before Annabeth could hear. I suppose what seemed like innocent taunts to his friends, hit a nerve in Annabeth that Percy couldn't explain.

"Your girlfriend is calling you." Beckendorf grinned.

Percy just rolled his eyes and laughed slightly in spite of himself. "I hate you all."

Nevertheless, he turned and began to jog over to where Annabeth was waiting, her arms folded as she leaned against the boat house.

Percy tried his luck again with another affectionate tug of her hair when he reached her. This time, instead of a swat, he just received a smirk of amusement and an eye roll of annoyance.

"Come on, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth taunted him. She pushed off the wall and they began the walk to fetch a boat side-by-side.

As they were walking, Annabeth nudged Percy in an attempt to tease him, and walked away laughing loudly as she left him to recover, the nudge made more drastic by Percy tripping over his untied laces.

"Annabeth!" Percy drawled out, calling out after her. But in spite of it all, he grinned in appreciation of this girl before him. Whilst they would always be platonic, Percy never failed to be amazed at Annabeth's wit or the brightness of her laugh or the way her princess curls glinted in the sunlight.

Annabeth simply looked over her shoulder as she jogged ahead, chuckling as she raced off. She was always there to embarrass the son of the sea; it was one of the perks of being his best friend.

After tying his shoes, Percy waited in one final moment of appreciation before shouting for Annabeth to slow down and running after her.

From the Mess Hall, Grover, Beckendorf and Silena (as well as the rest of the Aphrodite cabin) watched as the two demigods, destined to be together, walked off into the distance. They watched as they shoved each other, taunted each other and ultimately bathed in the glory and joy of one another. And whilst Percy thought his moment of grinning after Annabeth was his private moment, Grover quietly noticed how Percy soaked in every movement she made.

Mostly, Grover and Beckendorf teased the duo to get a rise out of them- it was always amusing to watch Annabeth's frustrations rise and it was hilarious to watch Percy blush ferociously. But as they were all getting older, Grover was growing more and more convinced that he was bearing witness to the love story of the century.

Silena sighed wistfully. "Oh, they're adorable."

"They so like each other!" Beckendorf smirked to himself.

Grover nodded in agreement and smiled. But he could tell that they didn't just like each other, Annabeth and Percy loved each other. Maybe they didn't know it now, but soon it would become clear. Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase were endgame.
