"Babe, I'm breaking up with you."
Piper and Leo were sitting in the middle of a little café in Manhatten that sold the best macaroons in the entirety of New York City. Piper and Leo had snuck out from camp for the sole reason of getting those macaroons. Leo was fiddling with some sort of helicopter piece under the table while talking to Piper, who had been fixing the turquoise feather in her hair, to calm his nerves.
"What?" Piper exclaimed loudly, sitting upright in shock. "Why? What did I do wrong? Was I not enough for you?"
"It's not that..." Leo projected, scratching the back of his head. He jolted when the daughter of Aphrodite subtly kicked his shin under the table, 'play it cool' her multicoloured eyes read. "It's just that you're a little clingy. And I also think that I need someone a little hotter. I mean... look at yourself: you've kinda gone down hill."
Piper heard a sharp intake of breath from behind her and she saw the young teen behind the counter looking at Piper in horrified pity. Good.
"You're breaking up with me because I'm not beautiful enough for you?" Piper burst into tears and buried her face in her hands. She was pretty sure the entire café was watching the interaction between Leo and herself.
"There is also the fact that I was kinda cheating on you." Piper's head whipped up and she let out an indignant squeak.
"Who with?"
"Calypso."
"My best friend?" A painful sob escaped Piper's throat. "You're cheating on me with my best friend?"
"I'm sorry, Pipes." Leo attempted to place a comforting hand on Pipers shoulder but she whacked his hand away and showed him her cracked nail polish on one of her fingers.
"Don't you 'Pipes' me, you broke my heart." Piper buried her head in her hands again. Gods she hated acting so pathetic- but she really wanted those coconut macaroons. "How far did you go with her? Was it just one kiss?"
"Well..." Leo hesitated and stared at the floor.
"Well, what?" Piper spat venemously.
"I've been dating her for a few months."
"A few months?!"
"I'm in love with her, Piper."
"Did she know about me?" Piper looked into Leo's eyes.
Leo hesitated, squinting slightly at Piper as if trying to figure out where she wanted this to go. "Yes. And she found it amusing."
"Well, I'm glad," Piper smirked through the tears, grabbing a smoothie from a nearby table. "Glad you found someone as heartless and terrible as you."
Piper tipped the berry smoothie all over Leo's head, and he looked at Piper, genuinely surprised and slightly annoyed. Piper didn't bother to suppress her smug smile. She heard a united 'woah' from the whole café.
"Maybe you should leave," said the girl from behind the counter as she moved to stand in front of Piper in a protective way.
Leo grumbled a 'fine' and began to leave the cafe but before he left, he turned to Piper and said, "You're insane."
Piper grinned before she remembered she was supposed to be upset, and began to wipe at the tears around her eyes.
"I'm sorry about all of this," Piper managed to say through her tears. "I'll just fetch my purse and pay for the smoothie."
"Don't worry about it," the girl behind the counter said. "I'll just fetch another one out."
The girl pulled Piper in for an unexpected hug.
"How about you pick ten different macaroons from the counter and I'll let you take em for free."Bingo.
"You'd really do that for me?" Piper sniffled. "You won't get in trouble?"
"My mom owns this place, worst case scenario, she takes it out my allowance and I think I can survive that."
"Thank you so much!" Piper smiled sadly at the girl before she chose her macaroons, making sure she picked three coconut ones.
As she left the store, Piper gave the girl behind the counter one last grateful smile and she felt kinda bad. That guilt was gone though as soon as she opened her free bag of macaroons.
"Hey Beauty Queen," Leo appeared from the corner and grabbed the bag off her. "Did you get me a lemon one? Oh gods! How many did she give you?"
"Ten." Piper grinned.
"Nicely done," Leo said, "but this does feel a little wrong."
"It wasn't stealing and we didn't use any charmspeak, it can't be wrong if she gave us free macaroons of her own free will."
"Fair enough."
"Nice touch on the cheating on me thing, by the way," Piper grinned. "I was not expecting that."
"Neither was I until I said it," Leo grinned impishly, chomping on his macaroon. "Though I will say that I did not appreciate the smoothie."
Piper sniggered. "Look, I was caught up in the moment. Besides, if I ever get the chance to dump food on you, I'm gonna do it."
"We make a pretty good team, don't we Beauty Queen."
"We sure do, Repair Boy."
"You don't think Jason's gonna be mad at me for pretending to be your boyfriend is he?" Leo stopped walking and looked at Piper in a sort of joking fear.
"As soon as he sees that we have macaroons," Piper grinned, snatching the bag from
Leo, "I really don't think he'll care."A/N
WAAHHHHAAYYYY GUESS WHO'S BEEN A LITTLE SHIT AND NOT UPDATED IN FOREVER! THIS GAL!
Anyway, yeah- I'm really sorry. I've had my GCSEs for the past month or so. But they're almost over and hopefully lots of chapters will be along soon.
Also, I'm aware this isn't Percabeth but I thought of the story line while I was revising The 1920s (don't ask my why) and I fancied writing it, but Annabeth's character didn't fit it too well, so I just went with the flow.
It's badly written and I'm tired, but it's here.
So I'm signing off x
