I am in way too deep.
That’s the first thought floating inside my mind when sleep finally leaves my body and I blink my eyes in the bright morning light.
Case sleeps soundly next to me, splayed across the bed on his stomach, one arm folded under his pillow. His lips are puckered as he breathes through the gap between. There’s an adorable wrinkle between his brows that my fingers would be itching to smooth…
...if only I wasn’t wallowing in dread right now.
I had sex. With Case. The source of my many lusty daydreams. The twin brother of my best friend. My best friend, who I’m fake-dating. Who has no idea that I just slept with her brother.
Not only am I lying to basically everyone I know, I’m now keeping another secret from the only person that was in on the first one.
What do I do? Brandi is going to hate me! And what about Case? How’s he going to react? Maybe… Maybe he regrets this?
Trying to control my rapid breathing caused by my guilt and my confusion swirling together, I glance at the man lying next to me.
The man that I might lo-
No. No no no no no.
My head spins a little when I sit up quickly, violently rejecting the thought. Nope. Do not finish that sentence, Liza.
The abrupt movement seems to have woken up Case, as he stirs next to me. My heart hammering, I watch as one green hazel eye opens and blinks at me. A slow, sexy smile spreads to his lips.
“Hey.”
And just like that, I forget everything.
Holy fu...ggerino he is hot. My lower belly swoops as Case drags himself up a little, leaning on his elbow.
“Did you sleep well?”
I swallow and nod.
“Y-yeah.”
Case yawns and slumps back down, his eyes drifting shut.
“What time is it?”
“Oh. Uh, I don’t know.”
“Good.”
My confused frown has no time to form before Case’s warm fingers wrap around my wrist.
“Come here.”
One powerful yank later, I find myself half-lying on top of Case’s warm, extremely naked body. My nipples instantly perk up, enjoying the friction against his hot bare skin, reminding myself that I am wearing absolutely nothing as well.
And right now, facing Case’s sleepy smirk and feeling his hardening length under my thigh, it seems like the perfect place to be.
“Mmm. You’re so warm.”
Case’s hands travel to my lower back and then glide over my butt, softly massaging before his head pops up from the pillow. His nose nudges mine before our lips unite, tongues swirling together effortlessly.
My earlier doubts are nothing but a distant nag in the back of my mind. I can’t bring myself to regret this when it feels so, so right.
Case groans a little when I adjust myself, straddling him. I shudder from the sheer pleasure of feeling his hard cock pressing between my legs. His hands turn possessive, drifting lower, inching towards my wet center as his lips continue their assault on mine…
And then we hear it.
“Case!”
Our lips come apart with an almost comical pop when Brandi’s yell echoes through the apartment. We stare at each other, wide-eyed.
"I brought breakfast!"
The second yell lights a fire under our behinds. We scramble apart in a flurry of limbs and gather our clothes, thrown here and there around the room. I shiver with disgust feeling the still slightly damp fabric of my shirt, but pull it on regardless.
“Get up, sleepyhead!”
Case and I grab the doorknob almost at the same time, our clothes haphazardly thrown on, then pause.
“Oh, uh. W-we probably shouldn’t…”
“Go out at the same time?”
Case chuckles breathily.
“Yeah. You go ahead… I might need a moment.”
My cheeks burn up when I realize what he means. The bulge of his semi-hardon draws my eyes to it for a moment before I force myself to stop.
“I’ll go. Umm. See you downstairs?”
Even in the awkwardness of the moment, Case smiles.
“Yeah. See you.”
I want to kiss him again so badly, but Brandi yells something again - I have no time. Slipping out hastily, I run on my tiptoes to the bathroom. Just a few moments later, a fist pounds against the door.
“Get out, Case! It’s breakfast time.”
I meet my messy hair and wide eyes in the mirror. Forcing myself to take a deep breath, I yell back:
“Actually, it’s me. I’ll be out in a sec!”
“Liza? Girl what are you doing here so early?”
"Um… I'll tell you when I get out."
"Oh. Okay."
Brandi’s footsteps retreat from the door, and I sigh from relief.
It’s okay. I just need to wash my face and brush my hair. And act normal in front of Brandi until I can talk this out with Case. I can… I can do that. Right?

“Well, you took your time. Here. Eat.”
Brandi practically shoves a hash brown down my throat when I sit down at the table.
"You're lucky I couldn't decide what to eat and got double of everything."
"Yeah, sorry about that."
To my surprise, Case is already there. We lock eyes for a moment before he just awkwardly nods and continues shoving food into his mouth.
I swallow my bite, nearly choking.
“Morning.”
Case pauses and clears his throat.
“Morning.”
It couldn’t be more awkward. Trying to salvage the situation, I throw Brandi a smile across the table.
“What’s with the spread?”
Brandi grins.
“Got bored of cereal. Plus, I just thought I’d surprise Case.
Being an excellent sister and all that.”
Case sputters a little, earning an odd look from his twin. His eyes find mine for a moment before he looks away again. “Sorry, got something lodged in my throat.”
Lies, probably. That’s how I feel, at least. Like I can barely swallow any food past the guilt that burns in my chest.
Brandi rolls her eyes. “Maybe you should chew properly, dumbass.”
Case stays silent, just looking down at his food as he keeps eating.
"So, what are you doing here anyway?"
"Case texted me last night and said you were staying at your parent's, and I desperately needed to get away from mine. So… here I am."
"Thought to make my bed and everything, huh?"
"Um… yup. You know me. Super tidy."
"The tidiest."
Realizing that my plate is empty, I stretch across the table to grab another hash brown.
But in doing so, my hand collides with Case’s, who had just reached for OJ.
“Oh, shi...itake, I’m, uh, sorry.” I say as the OJ bottle wobbles a little and Case withdraws his hand as if I burnt him.
“No, sorry- entirely my fault. You go ahead.”
My face burning, I quickly grab the hash brown and stuff it in my mouth.
"So, did you guys bond last night without my big ass mouth around?"
Case glances at me out of the corner of his eye.
"Um, you could say that."
"Liza, did Case confess he slept with your fourth grade picture under his pillow for almost a year?"
"I did not!"
"Don't worry, Case. Liza wrote a short story about you proposing to her when she was 16."
"Brandi!"
"What? Aren't we old enough to laugh about our childhood shenanigans now? It's not like you guys still have feelings for each other or anything…"
"No!"
"Hell no!"
“Oh, for fuck's sake, the least you could do is not lie. Just bang each other already!”
I gasp for breath, crumbs spilling everywhere. Shocked, I glance at Case to see that he’s completely frozen.
Brandi rolls her eyes, leaning back on her chair.
“Oh, come on. I can’t look at you two anymore, and Case might as well know the truth now.
His obsession with you, Liza, must be killing him.”
“So you should just fuck and get it over with.”
Case and I exchange a long look, and I see him nod a little.
He’s right. It’s time to come clean. Turning back to Brandi, I take a breath.
“Well, about that...
We, uhhh- We kind of already did.”
Case seems to finally find his voice.
“Kind of?”
My cheeks burn. “Okay. We definitely did.”
I watch Brandi’s reaction, feeling a bit scared, but she just grins.
“Fucking finally! It was killing me watching the two of you dance around each other all these years.
The sexual tension didn’t help me forget that I’m recently single at all, you know.”
“I’m... sorry?”
Brandi dismisses my apology with the wave of her hand.
“Sorry, schmorry.”
“You’re not angry?”
She shrugs.
“Why would I be? Pretty sure I called this way before you two even had a clue. Like… my first words were probably 'Liza and Case get married.'”
Finally, the realization that I’m not losing my best friend over this starts to sink in. A relieved smile spreads to my lips, and I see Case’s lips curl upwards too.
Under the table, his hand finds mine, and for a moment everything feels right in the world.
But then Brandi opens her mouth again to ask the inevitable question:
“So… What now?”

Oh. Fudge.
