CHAPTER SEVEN | UH OH SPAGHETTIO!

Making friends was always hard for Oliver. Although he generally had a really caring persona, it took awhile for him to become comfortable around them. But once Oliver made a close friend it was close to unbreakable.

Why making friends at Midtown was ten times easier than his old school, he had no idea. Maybe it was because everyone there were nerds, even the jocks.

Even with the comforting idea in his head, meeting up with Peter and Ned terrified him.

It totally could've been the hovering disbelief about meeting Tony Stark (even if Oliver barely spoke, and acted like a total weirdo), but he had no idea how to interact with the two boys.

He told his Mom he was going to cancel on them, but ended up being yelled at to "go and be a normal teenager".

The ever-comforting motherly advice never failed, and Oliver was dressed and walking to the movie theater.

Surprisingly it wasn't a long walk, maybe fifteen or twenty minutes (if he was back in Cali it would've been an hour's walk, but a ten minute drive).

The whole walk Oliver had in music, and was sending the occasional text to the group chat Ned made for the three of them

Oliver wasn't as nervous as when he started the walk, he was able to calm down slightly. Now the main source of anxiety was coming from being surrounded by people.

He still wasn't used to living in a city.

Ned waved excitedly to Oliver when he walked into the theater. Peter was standing next to him holding a large bag of popcorn.

"Hey, Oliver over here," Oliver weaved through the lines to the pair.

"Thanks for inviting me," He directed towards Ned.

"Oh it's fine, I mean I had to show you the holy grail that is Star Wars," He nudged Oliver slightly.

In all honesty, Oliver didn't really like the movies all that much. He put on a smile and told Ned they were good, but they weren't something he was going to watch again willingly. But at least he had something to talk to Ned and Peter about now.

During the whole time the trio hung out, it was mostly Ned and Oliver talking. Peter never really chimed in, only when Ned started to tease Peter about his giant crush and a senior girl, Liz Allen, that Peter started to contribute.

It was funny to Oliver, watching Peter turn bright red at the mention of her name. He hadn't ever met someone like Ned before, so it was refreshing to be around someone who was so upbeat. Even with Peter's slightly depressed/sleep deprived state.

By the end of the day, Oliver was confident that Ned and Peter could be considered close friends. Especially after the three of them had a moment about the Avengers, and what superpower they'd want the most.

That night, Oliver was laying in bed just reviewing what had been going on in his life. It was like the universe just clicked "random" when it was designing him. Because for him to to get superpowers, be Tony Stark's intern (even though he bullshitted his way into it), and make friends in an alarmingly short time, then to have almost all that happen practically directly after moving cross country? Yeah his life was crazy.

All Oliver really needed from life was to live in a small town and own a bookshop. He just wanted that Studio Ghibli lifestyle.

Of course, in a world where superheroes exist that probably won't happen because the world ends every couple years.

But a boy could dream.

Sunday passed slowly. Filled with chores and homework and the knowledge he'd have to wake up before eleven the next day.

Oliver was finally starting to get into a routine.

Of course the world wasn't going to allow that though.

On Tuesday, the Sokovia Accords were announced.

a/n - hehehehe

Guess who's back? Me lol.

School sucks ass, even online why am I getting so much work. I have done so much algebra that looking at 'x' makes me want to cry. Also I thought that The Great Gatsby was going to be good? lol it's definitely not, everyone in that book is snobby and I can't understand half of it. Oh well.

Anyway, the chapters are going to be shorter now, sadly, but I might've forgotten what I wrote in previous chapters so some things might not line up at the moment. Also I do have a plot outline (the 3rd version) and I somehow managed to deviate from it in like the first chapter??? Eh, as long as it all works out in the end.

I hope everyone is safe and remaining sane in these times, because I know that I've uncovered a lot about my mental state that I didn't know about in March.

Anyway, updates on Tuesdays, thank you for reading this! I promise that I'm going to start the romance part soon!
