My hand rested on his chin for a moment, and we just stared at each other. He finally shook my hand off of him, and half crawled and half walked to the other side of the tent, where he would be sleeping. I stared at him blankly before cuddling back into my blankets. I turned the other way, hoping to get some sleep. It was late and I was worn out. Having someone near me helped me feel a little more safe, and I was thankful for Bellamy’s presence. I stared at the other side of the tent when a sudden question popped in my head.

“Bellamy, how did Octavia get locked up?” I knew it was probably a hard area for him, but curiosity filled my mind. “What happened?” I got up and laid my hands on the ground, propping me up. I turned to face Bellamy on the other side of the tent.

Oh…

Oh god…

Oh my lords in the sky…

Ohhhhhh lordddddd…. My face instantly turned red, and I stared at Bellamy, my mouth hanging open. He was shirtless. Oh my god. Ohh myy godd. I kept swiping my eyes, up and down, looking at his beautiful abs. Damn! He’s got a nice six pack! I started to feel uncomfortable, and so I looked away. His shirt was thrown carelessly at the door of the tent, in a bunch. But he saw me. He saw me staring at his abs. But he just laughed. And let me tell you this, it was a HOT laugh. So hot. His laugh made my lips turn into a smile, and I giggled.

“Checking me out, I see? Well, I don’t blame you. I am pretty sexy.” He struck a silly pose, as if he was a model. I laughed even harder.

“Can I please ask you, why you are shirtless?” I asked him between fits of giggles. He looked my way, and his eyes sparkled.

“Well, every man has to look nice in front of their ladies, do they not?” His sarcasm made him just so fricking cute. My giggling slowed down, and so did his hot laugh.

“No, but I’m serious.” He looked outside, and then finally turned head to face me. He shrugged.

“I always have. You know how hot it can get in the Ark sometimes, so ever since I was little, I did. Bad habbit, I guess.” He leaned back and laid down, his hands behind his head. Bad habbit. Right. Its not bad. In fact, it makes me want to stare at him all day. Wait. I already want to do that…I also lay down, and I closed my eyes. I stared blankly at the ceiling of the tent, awkward silence filling the air for a few minutes.

“I took her to a masquerade ball. She had never been outside our little room, because obviously she would have been arrested, and my mother would have been floated. But it was my fault. It was all my fault.”

“Hm?” It took me a while to register what he was saying, because sleep was already calling my name.

“How she got arrested…Octavia…” I snapped my eyes wide open and propped my self up. I looked at Bellamy, who didn’t even glance my way. Not for a second. He just stared at the ceiling. “She had never been outside the walls of our little room. She always begged for me to take her out. She had never seen the outside world, never seen any other person but my mother and I. I pityed her. And I loved her so much. She is truly something special. So, when I was a guard in training, I took her out. My mother was working, and…I got alerted of a masquerade ball. I thought that maybe this was her chance. As the days went on, she seemed more and more tired. And depressed. But wouldn’t you? Wouldn’t you have been so sad, and tired, and depressed, and just feel like the whole world is shutting you out? Wouldn’t you?” He looked at me as if waiting for a reply, but nothing came out of my mouth. “And so, I took her. She was having a blast. Dancing, meeting new people, she was just having fun. And then they temporarily stopped it, for I.D check. Since Octavia is not a citizen of the Ark, she doesn’t have an I.D. And before I could register what was happening, they took her away. Just like that. With the snap of a finger. And the next day, my mother got floated. It all happened so quick. Next thing I know, the little room I shared with my family was empty. No one to share it with. I lost my job as a guard, and…I just lost it. I didn’t know what to do. I was always alone. But I guess I can say I deserved it. It was all my fault…I feel like I owe everything to Octavia. So that’s why I’m here. I did some things…some bad things. And, well, that’s that.” He looked at me with his eyes droopy, his face looking so sad.

“I’m sorry, Bellamy. I didn’t kn” He cut me off quickly.

“No, no its okay. I don’t need you pitying me. I deserved it.” I sadly watched as he sunk back into his bed.

“But did Octavia deserve it, Bellamy? Did you ever stop to think about that?” He didn’t answer, so I answered for him. “Of course she didn’t deserve it. But you didn’t either. Because it’s not your fault. Stop saying that.”

He shook his head firmly.

“But it is.” And with that, he turned around and closed his eyes for the night.
