I quickly shower so Faith is not left alone for too long. When I return to the kitchen ten minutes later, I see her sitting at the kitchen island looking into space, deep in thought. She weakly smiles when she notices me enter the kitchen.

I kiss her cheek before sitting on a stool beside her. "Where were you just then?" I ask her, already knowing the answer.

"I can't for the life of me figure out Leigh's motive. She already has Jeremy. Why the hell would she rob Grace of six months of her life? It just doesn't make any sense." Her brows furl as she contemplates the reason for Grace's abduction.

"I don't know, Babe. Hopefully, Cindy or the detective can give us some answers." I squeeze her shoulder before getting a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

The timer for the quiche goes off. I get it from the oven for us and place it on the island. I grab a couple of plates, silverware, and a pie server for us. I warm Faith's coffee before sitting back down. She cuts the quiche and puts a serving on each of our plates. I devour my serving and reach for another. Faith has barely touched hers.

"You need to eat, Babe." I look at her with concern.

She takes a few more bites and pushes the rest of her breakfast away. "I'm going to lie down. Please get me if Cindy finds something."

She stands to clean up, but I stop her by holding her wrist. "I got this, Faith. Go lay down."

She doesn't even fight me. She brushes her lips against mine and goes into our bedroom. I clean up breakfast, then grab my laptop and begin working.

Several hours later, I got a text from Cindy. I've found some exciting things about Leigh Miller. Let me know when it's an excellent time to meet with you and Faith.

I hear the bedroom door open, and my gorgeous girlfriend emerges. She gives me a sweet smile.

I return her smile and pat the stool next to me. She sashays over. I pull the seat in between my legs. She sits with her back towards me and leans back into my chest. I kiss her neck and feel her shiver at my touch.

I rub her tense shoulders. "Are you up to a meeting with Cindy?"

She turns and looks up at me with wide eyes. "She has information on Leigh already?"

I smile. "Cindy is very impressive when looking into people. I'm not sure how she does it. I'm afraid to ask."

We each fill our coffee cups. I text Cindy to let her know that we're on our way. We walk into Cindy's office, shut the door, and sit. I hold Faith's hand.

I give Cindy my attention. "What do you have for us, Cindy?"

Cindy grabs her notepad, looks towards Faith, and gives her an encouraging smile. "Leigh Ann Miller, maiden name Griffin, age 23, and a high school dropout. Mother Mary died in childbirth, and father Frank is a truck driver. When on the road, he left Leigh at his mother's. Leigh's cousin Dawn rented her a studio apartment above her home when she was eighteen. Leigh was a waitress in a gentlemen's club till meeting and marrying Jeremy Miller a year ago. She still rents the apartment from her cousin even though she resides at Jeremy's home. Leigh claims to have had a miscarriage a few months after her marriage to Jeremy, but there's no medical evidence that there was ever a baby. The word on social media is that the marriage is rocky and heading to divorce."

Cindy looks up at us, and I look over at Faith. Her mouth is hanging open at the overwhelming amount of information that Cindy just communicated.

I squeeze Faith's hand. "Cindy takes some getting used to when she's in investigator mode."

Cindy blushes. "Is there anything you want me to repeat?"

Faith finds her voice, "Damn, Cindy! Were you a detective in a previous life?"

Cindy laughs. "My father is a retired detective. He taught me everything that I know. He also gave me some very reliable connections."

"She mentioned that her father was a detective during her job interview, and I knew that she would be a perfect assistant for me. She can use the skills that he taught her in her position here. I like to know who I'm working with," I add pridefully.

"Now, what do you do with this information? Do you give what you found to Detective Kidwell?" Faith asks us curiously.

Cindy and I look at each other. I answer, "We do if she finds anything illegal."

"What about now? What about everything you found out about Leigh?" Faith asks.

"Babe, it's not that easy. Don't underestimate Detective Kidwell. I can guarantee that he's already on top of this. What Cindy does for us is to keep us informed on who we are dealing with," I explain.

It's at that point that Cindy's phone buzzes, indicating that Liza has a message. Cindy put it on speaker. "Hello, Liza, what's up?"

Liza replies, "Detective Kidwell is on line one. He asked for Faith."

I quickly speak up, "Send him through."

I nod to Faith, and she smiles at me, letting me know that she got this. "Hello, Detective."

"Miss Henson, we have your sister."

We all look at each other. Faith has her hand over her mouth in shock. The detective continues.

"It's not good, Faith, not good at all. She's going by ambulance to Scripps Mercy. I would suggest you get there as soon as possible."

I answer for Faith, "We're on our way."

We hang up, and Faith's and Cindy's eyes are bugged out. I'm afraid that Faith is going to go into shock. I quickly place my hands on Faith's cheeks and look her in the eyes. "Babe, you have been strong for Grace. You need to be strong for her now,"

A tear slips down her cheek. I wipe it away with my thumb, and she looks at me, straightened up in her chair, and I know that my girl is ready for whatever awaits her at Scripps Mercy Hospital.

We make it to the hospital in record-breaking time. I called the detective to find out where Grace was in the hospital. He told me that Grace was in intensive care and to prepare Faith for the worst. Robert barely puts his car in park, and Faith is out the door running towards the entrance. I jumped out of the car after her and had to run to catch up to her.

"Faith, Baby. Take a breather."

She ignores me and rushes to the elevators. I get there just before the door closes. I wrap my arms around her.

Faith's heart is beating hard and fast against my chest. "Please, Baby, take some deep breaths. It would help if you calmed down before you see Grace. She needs your strength now more than ever."

She nods and breathes in deeply. When we got to Grace's floor, I had my strong woman back. She held her head high, and we walked hand in hand to the nurse's station.

When we finally got in to see Grace, no amount of preparedness prepared us for what we were about to see.
