We bid him farewell when we reach the hotel. On floor 14 I attempt to go into Greyson and Is shared room, but Lisa instantly protests. "Nuh- uh!" she says and without explanation or warning, pulls me into her hotel room. I see my dress hanging up on a coat hook and glance at Aunt Lisa, who is holding a few bags full of stuff.
Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?
Half an hour later I'm decked out in my dress and shoes, arguing with Lisa about makeup. "No" I tell her sternly, feeling like she's an 8 year old asking for candy money, like Greyson and I always had. "Please!" she whines, huffing out. "Noooooo!" I say, refusing to let her win this time. And after 10 more minutes of discussing and arguing over the matter, she finally decides to leave me alone.
I hear a knock at the door and get up to answer it, but Lisa stops me. "Wait dear" she says, opening the door and telling whoever is behind it to wait a minute. She closes it and turns back to me, giving me get full attention. She walks behind me and brings a diamond necklace around my neck. "Auntie Lisa I can't accept thi-" she cuts me off mid sentence. "Listen to me Jess" she says, spinning me around "You deserve so much more than you have. I know you hate others getting you nice things, but you have to let us" she says, guiding me over to the floor mirror, running her hands up and down my arms. "You're beautiful" she whispers, and I don't dare ruin the moment by telling her the difference between being pretty and beautiful.
"I wore that necklace on my wedding day." she says dreamily "Scott's mother gave it to me. I always imagined giving it to Alexa, but you're just as much as a daughter to me as she is" she hums, stopping her hands upon my shoulders "She insisted I give it to you when the time was right." I gulp and turn around, facing her. "And, family doesn't leave each other behind or forgets one another. As hard as it might be to realize it Jess, Greyson never forgot you, and he had his reasons to doubt you'd ever want to talk to him again. Just, go easy on him, okay?" I mod and she gently pushes me to the door and opens it, revealing Greyson dressed in a tux.
**Greyson's POV.**
My breath hitched as the door flung open, revealing Jess with my mom standing behind her. My eyes widen as I take in her appearance. Her dress has a straight neckline and is strapless. The top is made of a light, ruffled material and the bottom of a pleated black fabric, a navy sash separating the colors underneath her chest. She auburn hair is pulled into tight ringlets with a flower clip in her hair, made of fake diamonds. She's wearing her usual (and large) assortment of bracelets and her feet are adorning her typical black low tops. I'm wearing my black high tops as footwear, proving great minds think alike.
But the one things that really catches my eye is her necklace. It's the diamond charm on the chain mom always wears. She got it from Grandma Chance before she got married. Once she found out about my 'crush' on Jess, she told the whole house and Alexa told her to pass the necklace down to Jess on our 'wedding day' instead of hers, like originally planned. Ever since then, dad has filled in the role of the overprotective father for her. Mom wouldn't stop gushing about it for days, saying it was 'cute' and we could be those classic best friends who turn into lovers and high school sweethearts. Tanner simply patted me on the back and told me I knew how to pick women. (and to get in there once mom and dad had left)
"Shall we go?" I ask, snapping out of my daze. She nods, walking out of the threshold. When in the car, I tell the driver the address of the party we'd been invited to. Well, I'd been invited to. Jess, of course, is my plus one. And who knows. Maybe I'll be able to steal a dance from her.

**Jess' POV.**
I walk in behind Greyson, awkwardly, taking the opportunity to absorb the whole scene in. "What exactly are we supposed to do here?" I question, seeing most of the people are talking to paparazzi.
