After getting ready and having an entertaining breakfast with Seth going into crucial and graphic details of how he was going to murder my alarm clock one of these days, we headed to school on our bikes.
Gosh, I love these bikes. I'm definitely going to be saving up for one.
"How did we live without these things?" I ask as we mount down from our bikes. Today we found open spots in the parking lot and I didn't see those bikes from yesterday.
"It's okay." Tyler says offhandedly. Trevor smirks and I raised a brow at him.
"Fine. It's freaking amazing." He admits, pouting slightly. "Better than being in a car." We head for the entrance.
"There." I pat him on the shoulder. "Was that so hard?" He just rolls his eyes.
People kept sneaking glances at us as we made our way to our lockers. This is starting to get annoying. Why do they all have to make the new kids stick out like a sore thumb. Can't they just go about their business. Is it really necessary to stop and stare. New kids in my old school were never treated with much interest.
Well they didn't have a to-do list, now did they? My subconscious taunted.
Yeah, but people don't know that. I bite back.
Something's seriously wrong with me. First saying my thoughts out loud, now this. I'm going crazy.
Trevor and Tyler didn't seem bothered by everything. I don't think they even noticed. Taking a deep breath, I refused to let them know that their stares bothered me as I continued down the hallway in search of our lockers.
The bell rung, indicating that it was time for our first class. We got our books and walked to our first period of the day, English.
I was hoping to get in early enough to score us a seat together at the back, away from prying eyes. But no, the world had other plans for us. There were about five free seats available and they were scattered around class.
I sigh loudly and Tyler just snickers at my misery and went to seat with a chirpy blonde that had her chest jutted out and a flirtatious smile directed towards him but he didn't pay mind to it. I almost gagged at the sight.
Trevor on the other hand, ran his fingers through his hair and confidently took long strides towards some giggling girls and one,—I'm thinking is their leader—chased her friend away just so he could sit next to her. Pathetic.
I scan the classroom and the only seat I considered manageable was one next to a striking caramel skinned brunette in the middle row, who was smiling eagerly at me that it was somewhat creepy. I almost wanted to take a seat next to some guy up in front but didn't want to seem rude so I walked up to her.
"Is this seat taken?" I ask, hoping she'd say yes,but she just smiled up at me and shook her head. Alright then. I sighed and plunked down next to her.
She giggles. "My name's Avery." Wow, okay I've never received that kind of reaction before.
"Nice. Mines Sydney." I say hesitantly.
"Thanks. I'm taking it that you're new here." She smiles again. Why smile so much? Maybe to showoff her pearly white and straight teeth. Suddenly I feel a bit self-conscious.
