~Birmingham, 24 October 1929~
I passed the whole time inside the plane sleeping, Evelyn did the same. Yesterday was a tough day, we both deserved a little nap.
When we arrived in Birmingham one of the hostesses woke us up. She was a bit rude, but I didn't really pay attention to that.
Thankfully, it didn't take long to check out and to left the airport. All I wanted to do at that moment was to go to the first pub we could find and drink something.
It was early morning, so we struggled a lot to find an open bar.
After walking for half an hour we finally found it: it was located in what I think was the Chinese area of the town.
We stepped inside and ordered two glasses of gin.
"I'm sorry ladies, but we don't serve drinks to girls unless they have a male companion." the barman said while cleaning the counter.
He looked annoyed by our request as if we were just wasting his time. Which made me pretty irritated.
Eve begged me with her eyes to leave it alone and walk away, but I wanted that damn glass of gin.
I knocked on one of the tables to call attention to myself.
"Okay, but what if my surname could make you give us what we want?" I said.He looked up in my direction, an acid smirk took the place of his normal expression.
"Go on then, what's your name lady?" he asked in defiance.I returned the smile, almost as a challenge.
"Capone. My name is Gaia Capone."Looking at his face becoming red of remorse made my grin even more emphatic than before.
"Wait, you mean like Al Capone?" the barman, clearly shocked, asked.
"Yes, Alfredo Capone is my uncle." Bingo.
I stopped talking for a bit, I wanted to make this moment for him more embarrassing than it already was.
"So, unless you want to see your pub on fire because of two stupid drinks, you better give us what we want" I continued.
I didn't even know Al Capone, but I still have his surname. Plus it's not that they can check if I'm lying or not...
Eve huffed. She was upset with me for what I did.
She doesn't like it when I lie like that; she was afraid of the consequences.
"you shouldn't do shit like this, one day you'll be in serious trouble for this stupid lies" she reproached me after telling the barman she didn't want her glass of gin anymore.
"fuck off Evelyn." I told her while reaching out to my drink.
I wasn't in the mood of fighting with her, thank God she didn't respond. After the barman apologized for his behaviour, I heard some gunshots from across the street. Eve also saw a few people quickly coming out of a building, scared as fuck.
Something was going on, and I wanted to find out what it was.
"I don't know about you, but I'm definitely going to check what's happening out there" I said whilst putting my glass down. I next stood up and crossed the room to reach the door.
"Gaia, we just arrived here, do you really want to get into some trouble?" Evelyne told me, taking me by my arm.
"If I'm gonna be stuck in this city for the rest of my life I better make myself known, don't you think?" I said.
I then took my purse and started emptying it frantically, looking for my gun.
"Whatever, but don't expect me to follow you."
She answered while letting go of my arm.I didn't actually expect her to follow me.
On the contrary, I was glad she didn't. she doesn't deserve to get hurt for my whims.
FINN'S POV
I knew Thomas told me to leave the dirty job to Aberama and Isaiah, but I didn't care.
My brothers always said to me to stay out of these kinds of things.
"Finn, don't touch the guns" "Do not come with us" "you can stay but you're not allowed to do anything" that's what they used to say to me every day.
I never had the chance to prove them I'm not a little boy anymore. I didn't want to disobey them.
But this time they're not here;
there's no Arthur who can tell me to "fuck off" while he does all the fun shit. There's no Tommy who can take the gun off my hands.
This is my chance, I can't waste it.After entering the building, I checked all the rooms I could find.
I stepped into every single door of the building, looked in every aisle. Unfortunately, there wasn't anyone I could shoot to, just women and little kids.I guessed Isaiah got luckier than me this time: I heard some gunshots coming from one of the apartments.
I kept looking and looking until I found a room with two men inside: the door was half-closed, so I couldn't really see who was in there or what they were doing, but their shadows clearly belonged to two masculine figures.
I assumed they were both unarmed, I didn't see any gun or weapon of any sort;
I brutally kicked the door and shot to the man in front of me.
He tried to avoid it, miserably failing. The man fell to the ground, clearly lifeless.
I was so happy about it I didn't realize I was wrong: the other man indeed had a gun, and he did not hesitate to shoot in my direction.
He thankfully missed me. In response, I shot two bullets towards him.
The man dodged both of them.
I tried to shot again, but I then noticed I didn't have any bullets left.
While I was looking in my pockets if I had a recharge, the guy gave me a punch in the face and I fell onto the ground.
I tried to punch him on his belly, but he dodged this too.
He then went on top of me and pulled out a knife from his jacket.
I was so astonished I didn't have the strength to fight back.
Who could've saved me? Isaiah? Aberama? They weren't even in the same part of the building as me.
The guy smiled at me in a malicious way while turning his knife in my direction.
I saw the shiny blade slowly getting closer and closer to my throat. The bastard wanted to enjoy this moment.
"This is it," I thought.
