Alexa woke up in a bed. She lazily sat up and felt the soft, velvet covers. How did I get here? She thought. She climbed out of the bed and wandered out the door. Immediately the smell of bacon hit her and she rushed into the kitchen. Candance and Amarity were cooking breakfast.
"Morning, Lexi. How'd you sleep?" Candance giggled.
"Shut up! How'd I get in there?" She asked.
"Lover-boy carried you after you fell asleep. Such a gentleman." She replied.
Just then, Daven and Brent came up the stairs.
"Speak of the devil.." Marisol said.
"Morning everyone! Woah, is that bacon?!" Brent exclaimed, rushing over to Candance, "Oh my God, you're the best!"
He hugged her and kissed her forehead.
"Hands off, Brent!" Jay yelled as he came up the stairs, wearing nothing but a pair of stolen sweatpants and a towel around his shoulders.
Candance punched him in the arm.
"I can dream, can't I.." Brent mumbled as he walked away.
Jay walked past Alexa and towards one of the other rooms. Alexa could see all the scars on his back, shoulders, and all up and down his arms. It looked dreadful, but at the same time it showed how determined he was to fight back against the system and how strong he really was. She admired that.
"Downstairs bathroom's open if anyone else wants a shower." Jay called back.
Grimmley burst up from the couch, "DIBS!!" He screamed as he flew down the stairs.
Everyone laughed.
"You know, it's been a long time since any of us have had a nice shower, or clean clothes, or even breakfast for that matter. This is the life I always wanted.." Candance said as she mixed up some pancake batter.
"Yeah, beside the fact that we're stealing from some random people, and the fact that we're all wanted criminals, and that half the group doesn't even belong in this world," Marisol replied.
Daven walked over and leaned against the counter, "Speaking of the people we're stealing from, do you think they'll come back?"
"What do you mean?" Alexa asked, walking over and standing beside him.
"Well, look at all the evidence. The food's all fresh, there's suitcases full of clothes in every room, everything's clean and well-kept.. What if the family staying here is coming back soon?" Daven answered.
Candance dropped the spatula, "Oh shit..you're right.."
Jay came back, pulling a stolen red T-shirt over his head, "What? What's wrong?"
"There's camping grounds and a canoeing attraction down the mountain. It's very likely they could have just gone down for a while.." Amarity said.
"You mean...oh shit we're screwed!" Brent shouted.
"Amarity's right, if they did do one of those attractions they'll probably come back today!" Alexa said.
"Calm down everyone! We'll be fine! Everyone just get some food in your system, get washed up, then we'll hightail it outa here, alright?" Marisol shouted.
The group agreed. Everyone took turns taking showers and they all had breakfast. Alexa stood in front of the bathroom mirror and blowdried her hair. When she was done, she brushed it out and admired it. Reaching out and placing a hand on the mirror, she was disappointed that it didn't go through. The cold, silvery surface was just too ordinary. I want to go home, she thought, why can't I just go home.
