Alexa threw her headband at the mirror and buried her face in her pillow, sobbing. After a while, she drifted off. She never thought she would want friends because she didn't think she needed any. After what happened, she thought the only person she could trust was herself. Her mother stopped trusting herself, that's why she committed suicide. Mostly, Alexa resorted to isolation so that she wouldn't get hurt like her father hurt her mother.

Alexa's sleep that night was usual: black and empty dreams. Everything was normal, until around 12:00 at night. Alexa had a dream, which was unusual because she usualy just fell asleep and woke up in the morning like no time passed. In her dream, she was standing in front of her mirror. She couldn't see her reflection, but she could see herself. It was like she was watching herself. She, or, the other her, was getting ready for her summer church class. The other Alexa looked at the floor in front of the real Alexa and saw the headband the real Alexa threw at the mirror before the dream (you see, wording this is quite complicated). The other Alexa picked up the headband, she literally reached through the mirror, and put it on. Then she left the room and the dream ended.

Alexa woke up to the sound of her grandmother's voice.

"Don't be late Alexa, please!" She called, "Must we do this every day?"

Alexa dragged herself out of bed and inched to her closet. Today she put on a red dress with a yellow bow around her waist. The red dress was above her knees, so she put shorts on just in case. Alexa always did, always prepared for anything. She went through the same routine. Brush teeth, take a shower, get dressed and so forth. After, she brushed her hair and went to get her headband. It wasn't there.

"Alexa!" Her grandmother shouted.

Alexa decided that it fell under something and hurried downstairs. It's not like that silly dream was real, that wouldn't be possible. She probably kicked it under the dresser or something when she stumbled out of bed that morning.

Once again, Daven tried to talk to Alexa at church. She tried to ignore him, but it was obvious he wasn't going to give up and leave her alone like always. Everything was the same. When Alexa came home, she looked for her headband. It wasn't under the dresser, or the bed. Alexa assumed that her grandmother picked it up while cleaning. Though it was the best theory, Alexa couldn't help remembering the dream. She pushed the thought away.

"That's ridiculous," She said to herself, "Reflections are reflections. They can't move on their own. And mirrors are mirrors. Nothing more than glass."

For the next few days, things seemed to be the same. Alexa went to church, Daven talked to her before and after classes, and Alexa never found her headband. After a while she forgot about it.

One day, at church, the Bible teacher assigned an at-home project that would last two weeks. The students were to get into pairs and work on re-writing any book of the Bible in a different language. It was suppose to help them understand the connection that the book had with the whole world, not just English speakers. Alexa was paired up with Daven, what a surprise, and their translated Bible book was Jonah. Alexa wasn't too happy about it, but at least she got one of the shortest books. After that class, Daven met Alexa outside.

"Hey. So, this project thing is an at-home thing. Do you..know any Spanish?" Daven asked. He rocked back and forth from heel to toe.

"Uh, hola? Or something?" Alexa replied.

Daven laughed, almost losing his balance, and Alexa couldn't help but chuckle too.

"I guess we can work on it at my house." She said.

Daven nodded as Alexa's grandmother pulled in.

"I actually don't live too far from your house, I think. I guess I can walk there." Daven said before Alexa left.
