"What was that?" she yells at me. All of a sudden I feel a surge of confidence surge through me.
"What do you mean Cassie?" I say a little snarkily, it shocked both of us.
"why I was only dancing," I say to her like I never thought I could talk to anyone.
"Oh please, we both know you only did that because Coach Val told you that you had to or she wouldn't let you audition." She says with jealousy
"Think what you want Cassie." I walk back in the studio now seeing that my parents aren't here yet, no surprise there. Coach Val is standing there looking at herself in the mirror it looked as if she were crying.
"A..are you ok," I say stuttering
"Oh why yes I'm fine dear, not that I don't love the company but why are you still here?" She asked
"My parents are late as always so I was going to start working on my solo."
"I see so much of me in you Luna, I was the same way. if I had nothing else to do I would dance, my parents didn't understand it much thought they wanted me to become anything other a dancer said it wasn't good enough for them. I was given an altamative dance or them, I chose dance because it was my family. It's like moving somewhere new and learning a language that only you and a handful of people understand." she was right, I started to get teary eyed.
"Yeah, it really is," I said as I started to cry
"Come on no more tears, let's work on that solo of yours." She said as if she were my mother, and I loved that about her. I think it's about 8:00 now and my parents still aren't here so I called my grandma.
"Hi, grandma."
"Hi Luna, what's going on?" she asked
"Nothing other than mom and dad forgetting about me again, they're probably still at Faith's art show. So do you think you could pick me up please?" I asked
"Of course I'll be there in like 10 minutes," she said
"Thank you, see you when you get here. Love you." I said happily
"Love you too," she replied. Me and Coach Val sat and talked until my grandma came and it felt so good to have someone who understood me other than Siana and my grandma. When I got home mom and dad were sitting in the kitchen talking to Mike and Faith like I didn't even exist. I tried to just go to my room.
