Sorry, it's a bit short.

Time jump to when she is 14 nearly 15.

Over time she forgot about the Avengers and her short time in the tower. The only thing she had to remind herself of her birth parents was a little arrow necklace she had had from when she was a little girl. She changed over the years and grew up with this anger, fear and feeling of abandonment which caused her to grow up wanting to fight for herself. She never wanted anyone to ever feel like she did but she was scared to let others close. One day she meant a small boy called Jasper who had been abounded by his teenage parents on a road. He took a strange liking to her and she to him.

Harper's POV

School was hell and I was so glad to be home. I was by far the smartest kid at school and got great grades in most subjects but I sucked at creative writing but I was alright at art. I just couldn't get my imagination to flow but when I was doing computer science or sport I felt at home and sketching often helped me get my engineering ideas onto paper.

The other girls thought me weird and the boys thought me a freak. They didn't like being beaten by a girl.

I didn't have many friends at school and I was fine with that. Boys and girls would be jerks if they wanted to. Especially because they thought me weird and strange but none of them knew me properly. I was fine being the odd one out because it took attention of the other students who also didn't fit in with the stupid stereotypes of school.

I said hello to Terry, waved to Jasper and smiled at a few other people. I walked through the halls and heard arguing, singing or general sounds of childish fun.

The childish fun made me smile but I never joined in with the younger children. I was the fourth oldest kid here. The third oldest was a boy who was always alone in his room. I'm not sure he even went to school. He was 17 and from what I knew he had never even had an interest in getting adopted or fostered. Poor guy.

I pushed my bedroom door open with a creak and dropped my beaten up backpack onto the floor.

I sighed and begun to change out of my uncomfortable school uniform. I wanted to burn my uniform but Terry didn't need any more drama in this home. I caused enough trouble as it was. I grabbed some black leggings and my white Beatles shirt. I pulled on a dark grey jumper and let my hair out of its now loose ponytail.

Someone cleared their throat from my doorway and I sent a knife their way. It landed right next to the person's head and I heard a quick sigh. "You know, you really shouldn't sneak up on a girl who could kill you," I said and spun around to see Nick Fury moving to sit on my desk chair.

He threw a file at me and it landed on the edge of my bed. "Read that." He said with boredom lacing his voice. I looked at him and snapped my fingers. He got off my desk chair and sat on my bed. I picked up the file then sat on my chair and took out my laptop from my backpack.

"Why?" I asked and put my hair up into a bun, so it was out of my face and chucked the file back towards him. He caught it and placed it next to him.

"Because it might help you make up your mind...To come with..." He began but I didn't want to hear it. I didn't move in my chair but I grabbed a small dagger I had in my desk drawers without Nick seeing.

"I will not be going to work with S.H.I.E.L.D anytime soon," I said telling him no, which he wasn't happy about.

"Your parents..." He tried to explain but I stopped him.

"My parents left me here. Don't you see that I hate them? They clearly didn't want me at S.H.I.E.L.D." I yelled, got up and I grabbed the knife I had thrown at him before that was still stuck in my door frame. I had been told who my true parents were when I was 10 by Agent Coulson but that didn't change anything. They didn't even sign the paperwork. Tony Stark and Steve Rogers had signed it.

"Get out," I snarled and pointed to the door with the knife. He nodded and put the file down on my bed then left my room. I stabbed the knife into my desk then held my necklace. "How could you," I whispered and kissed it softly wishing they could see the girl they gave away.

"Harp? Who was that?" I heard a small, innocent voice ask me. I felt all my anger and annoyance get pushed away when I saw who spoke. I looked around to see Jasper standing in the doorway holding his teddy.

"Nobody you need to worry about. Come one, let's go get a snack." He got excited when I mentioned a snack. He took my hand and we went downstairs to the kitchen.

Kids of all ages, sizes, backgrounds and races ran around the place and I smiled. I loved it here deep down because it was a safe place for anyone to stay. We even had two 18-year-olds who were staying until they got on their feet. Nobody was judged here as we all needed shelter and safety.

This was home to so many children and we welcomed anyone and everyone.

This was my home.
