Max got out of the car and changed place with Charlie.

Maxwell: So, do you still remember how to do this?

Charlie: Of course - he smiles.

Charlie fastened his seat belt and started driving smoothly.

Maxwell: Can you talk while you drive?

Charlie: Yeah, at least I think so.

Maxwell: Well, good. Then, when you turned gay?

Charlie: Why do you wanna come back on this subject?

Maxwell: Because I wanna know my son.

Charlie: - takes a deep breath - Okay, probably less than 1 month ago.

Maxwell: And...why?

Charlie: Leondre.

Maxwell: The guy who you were having sex with?

Charlie: Yeah.

Maxwell: Cool. Your turn! Ask me a question.

Charlie: Are we far from your house?

Maxwell: Let's say...yes.

Charlie: How much?

Maxwell: Far.

Charlie: Who lives with you?

Maxwell: Your stepmother and your step sister.

Charlie: Can you tell me their names? And how old are they?

Maxwell: Isabelle and Juliet. 38 and 12.

Charlie: Cool.

Maxwell: Turn left on the next street.

Charlie: Dad, now, talking seriously, why did...it all happened? Did you really left me?

Maxwell: Well, son, yes, I did.

Charlie: Why? You seems so nice.

Maxwell: Charlie, I'd rather not telling you.

Charlie: Dad, I've been waiting for this since I was 7. When I'm gonna be ready to know about this?

Maxwell: It's not about being ready or not Charlie, I feel...- tears rolls down his face - I feel so stupid, I feel like the worse person in the world, I've tried to forget you for years, really, but everytime, my heart told me that it was wrong. I've been crying for 9 years, almost every night, thinking about what I did. None child in the world deserves to have such a bad dad.

Charlie was about to start crying too, he saw that his dad wasn't lying, he was really shaken.

Charlie: But why do you feel so bad? What wrong thing you've done?

Maxwell: You s-sure you wa-wanna hear it?

Charlie: Please.

Maxwell: Pull over.

Charlie obeys.

Maxwell: Charlie, I don't know how to make it sounds better, so I'm going right to the point: I was addicted to cocaine.

Charlie was shocked. He starts crying.

Charlie: We-Well, dad, t-that isn't that b-bad. I mean, y-you're not t-the only. I can forgive you.

Maxwell: Charlie, I haven't finished. What I did was WAY worse than doing drugs. You must know that when people are addicted to something, they do ANYTHING, really, ANYTHING to get what they want.

Charlie: Y-yeah, I-I've been reading a bit a-about it lately.

Maxwell: And then, to keep buying my cocaine, I've used the whole family money, I've borrowed it from your aunts and uncles, from my friends, from my office friends, what made me lose my job, and then, I started giving my things, clothes, your mum's jewelry, the house furniture...

Charlie: It's ok, dad, even after all this time, I still love you, and for sure, I would always be by your side and forgive you about every wrong thing you did, I'm your son.

Maxwell. That's really sweet, Charlie, but you haven't heard the worse yet.

Charlie: So, tell me. I won't be mad at you.

Maxwell: Charlie, your mom banned me from seeing you because...one of the things that I tried to sell...were you.

Charlie had no reaction.
