December 21st, XXXX

That day, 2 orbs of magic were born. They slowly formed into skeleton monsters and had only some ideas on who they were and what their purpose was. They were to protect the Tree of Feelings from anyone who wished to take an apple, or harm the tree in anyway. They also represented the apples on said tree, they were immortal guardians of feelings.

Dream; The Guardian of Positivity
Nightmare; The Guardian of Negativity

They spent much time together, playing and protecting the tree. For 15 years, everything was perfect. They had rarely ever argued, they had built a small like home just to fit the two of them beside the tree, and they had each other to keep them company.

Until, other monsters found their existence. They were so drawn in by the tree and Dream, that they decided that by the ending slope of the hill, they would create a village to be as close as they could be to the embodiment of positivity. Both brothers were hesitant to allow this, after all, it was their land. But the soon-to-be villagers assured them that if they ever wanted them to leave, they would. So the brothers agreed on those and many other terms.

Once the village was built, Nightmare seemed to notice that they only wanted his brother. They took off with him any chance they got, even somewhat manipulating him to come with them. Nightmare was concerned and told his brother of his worries. To his shock, Dream had caught on to what they were doing as well. He had been planning on trying to talk to the Chief of the village later on. But to Nightmare's knowledge, Dream never did.

Even though Nightmare believed Dream never went to talk to the Chief, he did. It did not go as planned, as they manipulated and blackmailed him to keep quiet. They forced him to spend time with the villagers more then his own brother, but they had promised to leave Nightmare be. They lied.

Shocker.

Of course, Dream didn't know they were lying at the time. He thought everything would go fine if he just followed the village, if he stayed quiet, if he did everything they asked and told him. He did not expect to find out that his brother was being physically & mentally abused by the village, to catch the villagers all grouping up at the top of the hill, to be trying to kill Nightmare because of his role in the multiverse. When he saw them, he ran over to try and convince the villagers to leave him alone without using violence. But they didn't care.

Soon Nightmare tried to take a golden apple off the tree, angering them more as it soon corrupted. Nightmare got so scared, that he finally started eating all the apples until 1 at the very top was left. While he was doing that, Dream was holding off all the villagers until they finally got too angry. Blinded by their rage, they started to trample over the poor guardian to get to Nightmare. Nightmare saw nothing of this as he was too busy eating the apples.

Before the villagers reached Nightmare, the negative guardian cried out on pain. Slowly and painfully losing himself to the power of the apples, and changing into what looked to be a goopy octopus. As funny as it would sound, it was a complete nightmare to Dream and the villagers.

As Dream laid helplessly on the ground, he watched in horror as the villagers were brutally slaughtered in front of him. To be forever ingrained into his brain for as long as he would live.Dream quickly stood up, ignoring the pain he was in, to try and save the rest of the villagers from his brother's wrath.

The last golden apple fell and hit him on his skull, he quickly got it and before anything else happened, he absorbed it to keep the positivity in the multiverse safe. Then, he chased after his brother to try and confront him. When he finally reached his brother and touched the pure negativity that now surrounded him, he slowly was turned into stone. I guess the negativity was too much for his frail positive body to handle.

Even as stone, he stood watching his brother slaughter all the monsters. He watched as he brother killed the Tree of Feelings, their mother, and him try to figure out how to get the last golden apple that his now stone brother had absorbed. He saw his brother give up on getting it 5 years later, and leave him to be alone for however long it would take for him to get out of his stone prison. To be left alone, unable to move but only have his thoughts as company for the next thousand years.
