Warning: Mentions of Alcohol, small gunfight
The next day started the same. Avery made everyone oatmeal for breakfast, and it was beyond delicious. Before that Joni ended up getting a fever and had to stay back in the bed while Willow brought her oatmeal to her.
Joni was wrapped up like a burrito in a blanket. Willow sat on the bed next to her and placed an ice pack on her head.
Willow: How ya feeling?
Joni: Hot! I hate being sick
Willow: Here's ya oatmeal, I'll get your medicine
Joni nods her head and takes the oatmeal eating big bites while Willow heads to the cabinet and receives the Tylenol with some strawberry kiwi juice, Joni's favorite. Willow sits back on the bed next to Joni and points the Tylenol pill to her mouth like if she was a child.
Willow: Open up Jojo
Joni scowls at her in response.
Joni: Not funny Willow
Willow: Then why am ah laughin'?
Joni: If ah wasn't sick, Ah'd slap ya right now
Willow: Jus' open up or no juice
Joni grumbles before opening her mouth and swallowing the pill, then she grabs the cup of strawberry kiwi juice and chugs it all down. Willow narrows her eyes at Joni before taking the cup and the medicine.
Willow: Ya know ya didn't have ta chug all the juice, right?
Joni: Strawberry kiwi is delicious ya know
Willow playfully rolls her eyes before ruffling Joni's hair and walking out of the room. By the time 2 hours passed, Joni was feeling better and was now getting to go meet Garret at his barn. When she got there, Garret was already working.
Joni: Howdy grandpa
Garret: Howdy Joni feelin' better?
Joni: Yep, right as rain!
Garret: Ah'm goin' out again tonight
Joni: No drinkin'
Garret: Don't tell me what ah can't do
Joni: Ah'm serious, every time ya go out ya always end up drunk or asleep somewhere in town!!
Garret: Ah'm not a kid anymore Joni quit bossing me around
Joni: Maybe my boot in yo-wr behind will help ya listen huh?!
All Garret could do was just sign and nod his head yes. No matter how tough he was, Joni always somehow got the upper hand on him and for some reason that was the thing he loved the most about Joni, since she was the most like their mother. For the rest of the day Joni and Garret just worked on the farm together.
When the moon came out, that's when all the responsibility was left to Joni as she waved Garret goodbye. She walked back in the house just to see the others on the couch.
Joni: Alright girls put on your hats and let's head t' town
Avery: What for?
Joni: Because grandpa's out again
Jade: So ya jus' want us t' spy on him?
Joni: It's not spying, it's keepin' him safe
Willow: Plus, ya'll know how grandpa gets when 'e's drunk
Jade and Avery nodded and by then the girls were out the door and on their way to town just to keep an eye on Garret. By the time they walked in the bar, Joni made the others huddle up.
Jade: So, what's the plan Joni?
Joni: Make sure grandpa doesn't see ya, cause 'member we're only spying on him.
Avery: What if he sees us?
Joni: Don't worry ya'll know how is around bars, jus' stick ta my plan.
That was the plan 25 minutes ago. Now they were wondering where the heck he could've gone.
Jade: Where the heck is he?!
Willow: Come on, ah jus' saw walks out of the door!
The girls ran out of the bar only just to see Garret right in the middle of town shooting his gun at a rich man who was dancing because of it. Joni face palmed while the others groaned.
Willow: He's drunk...
Joni: *takes out her gun and aims it at Garret* Grandpa!! Drop Your Gun NOW!!!!
Garret stops at his granddaughter's voice; he knew he was in trouble with her. He slowly turns around and looks at Joni with those drunk eyes.
Garret: This ain't *hic* what it looks like JoJo, *hic* ah'm jus' a bit fuddle
Joni: Ya are in so much trouble
But when Joni was about to walk towards him, the police sirens were going off and riding towards the whole scene. They get out of the carriages and take out their guns aiming it at the girls.
Police Chief: Hands up!
Officer 1: Don't move!
Officer 2: Drop your gun!
Officer 3: Do it now!!
There was a moment of silence before Joni slowly put her gun back in her belt and slowly put her hands up along with Jade, Willow and Avery. But all broke loose when Garret suddenly shoots at the officers' leg causing the bullet to go straight through and making the officer scream in pain.
Garret: Your gun's so dull it wouldn't shoot a metal leg!!!
The chief was angry now, he started to storm towards Garret, but Joni slightly held him back.
Joni: Chief wait this ain't what it looks like!
Chief: Save it Dalton, ya all goin' t' prison for arming a wealthy man
The chief took Joni by both her arms and carried her to a prison carriage while she was trying to squirm free. The other two officers followed with Jade, Willow and Avery in handcuffs.
Joni: Get off of me, ah didn't do anythin'
Joni was squirming like a wild animal as she and her sisters were thrown inside the prison carriage and shut the door to see pitch black darkness. Jade started banging on the door again.
Jade: Let us out, we're innocent!
Avery: We been framed!!
Willow: Wait ya girls smell that?
They slightly sniff the air only to smell sleeping gas as it started spraying all over the inside. The girls started to fall in a deep sleep.
Joni: *cough* No we been framed
Was the last word, Joni could mutter before falling into a deep sleep before the carriage started riding off to Nevada Penitentiary.
