"Oh, but you are something, aren't you?" Nebula said with a bemused huff.
She had to admit to herself that Loki was clever. They sat in the cockpit of the small spacecraft they had picked out for themselves. Just casually floating outside with a good view of the Scavengers larger ship in front of them. Loki laughed as he leaned back in his seat, hands coming to rest behind his neck. He propped his feet up on the console in front of him.
"You know it's funny, I almost feel like I should thank Odin," he commented in a dry tone. "Truly, I have come to depend far too much on sorcery. It is good to be assured that even without it, I am still the God of Trickery!"
Nebula was quiet for a long moment. Watching the spectacle in front of them with an almost fond grin on her lips. The ship was blowing up, falling apart into several smaller pieces. All according to plan.
"I find myself almost having to believe that," she admitted as they watched the fireworks show from a safe distance.
Yondu and Rocket, the 'Don't call me a Racoon!' trash-panda, were busy blowing the whole thing up. Just as Loki had predicted they would once he gave them the key. Predictable in all the best ways. Soon they would board the only remaining spacecraft left in the hangar and flee. Oh, did Loki forget to mention the part where they had made sure that the main console of said ship was linked to the one that he and Nebula were using? Ensuring that Loki and Nebula would be able to follow them no matter where the pair went?
They would lead them straight to Gamora.
"You know, I actually wish that I could see Taserface's face when that idiot realizes he never stood a chance against those too," Loki let out a bark of laughter and shook his head. "I mean, what kind of idiot name's himself Taserface? Is that supposed to be frightening? Does it mean that he considers his face a taser? Or does it mean that he was so severely tasered, in the face, that he is permanently scarred? Honestly, betting on the latter myself. He certainly looks the part! HA!"
Nebula smirked at his rambling. It was hard to not be amused by what he was saying. Still, her eyes remained glued on the show in front of them.
"Ah, speaking of. Nebula?" Loki said as he turned to look at her. "Yondu told me some very interesting things. Would you kindly tell me what your thoughts about Asgard are?"
"Asgard?" she repeated with a derisive snort. "The place and its' people are pathetic."
"I had a feeling you might say that," Loki said with a wide smirk. "Do tell me more!"
"What else is there to say?" Nebula asked, rolling her eyes at his grin. "They are quite possibly the strongest race in the entire universe, or at least on par with the Kree and The Sovereign. And yet what do they do? They hide behind their golden walls like cowards, only lifting a hand if someone dares approach their precious home. Thousands of years ago, they were a mighty race that conquered many a land and claimed those lands, entire worlds, for themselves. And then they just left. They left those planets to rot without any guidance or assistance on their part, leaving so many to flounder without a governing body."
Loki let out a chuckle of amusement at her almost offended expression. He removed his feet from the panel in front of him and then shifted so that he was seated cross-legged in his chosen seat. He hummed softly and leaned forward, one hand on his chin and the other propped against a knee.
"It seems to me that there may have been a case of over-correction on Odin's part," he said thoughtfully. "Dear old dad conquered many a realm but then realized that shock and horror, you have to kill people when you go around conquering planets! Oh, no!"
