The feeling that they actually had a chance to wind was incredibly uplifting. As the discussions continued, he found that the odd group of such disparate people could work well with each other, and the progress that they made developing battle plans was astounding, really.
Tony had found a new tech-friend in not just T'Challa's little sister, Shuri, but also in Scott Lang and Janet Van Dyne. Together, the small group of technical geniuses developed a defensive laser grid to shoot down enemy space crafts. Not just that, but they also built a kind of... electric?... net that would prevent debris from being caught in Earth's orbit and instead be sent outwards back into space.
Of course, Rocket Racoon butt his way into the laser-weapons conversation, lending his hand, well, paw, on how best to build the weapons system. Apparently, the little guy had once built his own spaceship, which was impressive.
Mind, the group did not expect the laser grid to last all that long, but it would certainly thin out the generic enemy ships.
Carol Danvers and Vision, given their unique abilities to survive in space without special gear, would be able to put the weapons system into orbit for them. Highly convenient that.
As the group's tacticians, Strange, Loki, Clint, and T'Challa spent their time locating various strategic points on Earth that could act as landing points for their enemies. City or not, they took into account all possibilities and then worked to plan out defensive plans or evacuation plans where needed. From there, they discussed how to divide up the various armies that were coming to Earth's aid and how best to use them.
As the powerhouses, the Asgardians would be placed at the front of each force to both deal out the strongest blows and absorb their enemies' attacks. T'Challa's people, the Wakandan's, were a strong and powerful people, and many would fight alongside the Asgardians using their Vibranium spears and armaments to protect them. Still, an equal number of the King's people would be remote operating several ships and gunner systems, as well as maintaining the shielding to meant to protect the cities that might be targeted.
Each of their grouped forces would have at least three Masters of the Mystic Arts to open portals for either a quick retreat or call for aid. While the sorcerers would provide what aid they could during the fight, they were to remain at each contingent's back. They were their unit's best way to escape from a losing battle.
Steve, Natasha, and Gamora were tasked with dividing folks up and building the battalions to be the most effective units they could be given the situation. They picked out each battalion leader and made sure they could maintain command of the unit. Nebula went from group to group, informing and instructing the warriors on how best to counter Thanos' forces. Telling them where their weaknesses were. Going over their strengths and how to divide and conquer the Conquerer's troops.
The woman was extremely strict as an instructor, to the point of knocking more than one person on their asses if they tried to be smart asses about things, but everyone involved knew in the end to take things seriously.
The clock was ticking. The threat growing closer and closer. Thankfully, they now had something far better than even Tony's tech to judge how far away that threat was. They had Heimdal, the All-seer, on their side, and he was giving them constant updates on Thanos' troops.
Tensions might be high as the clock ticked down, yet that sense of hope and purpose fulled everyone. Even when some folks began to grow worried, panicked even in some cases, others were there with the assurance that they had each other's backs. It had only been a week since Loki's return, and yet, everyone worked day and night tirelessly to protect the small blue marble called Earth floating in space. For some, it was the desire to protect their home. For others, it was the desire to protect the home of their friends.
