A/N  bare in mind she is an eleven year old child.

The next day was the first chance she had to speak to her father again. It was her first potions class and she had never been more nervous in her life. She hadn't spoken to many of her fellow house members after being sorted and taken to their dorms because she had been a nervous wreck the previous night. When it was time for potions she sat down alone in and waited for the rest of the class to enter. To her surprise and glee Hermione sat down beside her, which meant they had potions with the Gryffindors.

"Are you okay, Aurora?" Hermione asked, a concerned look on her face as she sat her stuff down on the desk. "You didn't look very happy with the sorting last night..." Hermione said unsure about how to approach the topic. Aurora sighed but nodded.

"My father's a Slytherin, and he expected me to be one as well, I think. I've let him down, and I know he wont be happy with me." Aurora didn't have the guts to look Hermione in the eye.

"I'm - I'm just rather nervous because I don't know what he'll think about me." She said sadly. Hermione placed a hand on her shoulder and was about to console her when her father burst in to the classroom, cloak flowing behind him as usual.

"There will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class." He drawled in his usual voice. His piercing gaze found hers and she stared back hopefully until he moved his gaze along, hoping to catch an idea of what he was thinking, but came up short.

They were told to brew a very simple potion and Hermione and herself got to work. They were doing great compared to some of the other students who had never made a potion in their life. Aurora had been taught a bit by her father and Hermione had made it her business to read all the textbooks before school had started, so they had a huge advantage. They finished first and Snape came over to them to inspect the potion.

"Too much wormwood. 5 points from Hufflepuff." Snape said, looking only at his daughter. "I would like to speak to you after class." He said before walking of. She knew it was to spite her due to her house. No one else's potion looked as good as theirs, he just wanted to bring her down. Beside her Hermione was staring at her indignantly.

"I'm sorry about that, it seems he isn't to fond of me at the moment." Aurora said sheepishly, trying to make the situation a bit better.

"But he's your father!" she said incredulously. Aurora nodded. "He cant possibly be so cross just because you're a Hufflepuff?" Hermione questioned, glancing over at Snape who was examining a couple of Gryffindor's potion.

"He's a very proud Slytherin and in the Wizarding World, its a huge prestige to have ones whole ancestral line in one house." she explained. "I'm afraid I've quite ruined things."

"I didn't know that." Hermione admitted. "I hope he wont be too cross with you after class." she said, giving her a sympathetic look.

"I hope so too."

As the last person left the room she walked up to his desk and waited for her father to explain. He didn't.

"Dad?" She asked carefully.

He looked up, staring at her blankly but said nothing.

She went to open her mouth again, but he interupted her.

"Hufflepuff. Of all houses it had to be that one! You couldn't have disgraced me more, Aurora. The house of loons and air-heads now associated with our family." he sighed in her direction. She stood by his desk, shoulders slumped and head down, not sure what to say. She had been so excited to start school that she hadn't thought about her house being a problem before yesterday right before the sorting, and now it was all catching up to her. If only she'd prepared herself. Been better at convincing the hat. Changing her attitude a bit, this wouldn't have happened.
